Does this mean that the FOS can look at complaints older than 6 years old?
yes as long as the company you took your loan out with came under their jurisdiction at the time you took out the loan - who was it with and when did you take it out ?

Does that mean like the banks mostly being 2001??

I had 4 with the co-op and have put them all down in my complaint and put just the one date as the last one was definately within jurisdisction and they - the adjudicator rang me and said that "i notice you had 4 loans and have stated that you say only one will probably be within jurisdiction" to which i replied the other are out of date and he said "when did you become aware of this" and i said "when it was in media earlier this year". So i then think he may be looking into these as well. Time will tell. He asked me about them, i told him not to bother really but i knew they were all missold. He may have thought one was used to pay off the other each time and they were not as there was one month between them.

Right so was this insurance added to the loan as a single premium cover. In other words was it a loan to pay the insurance??
I don't know, how do I find out?

arrr - they can't look at your first egg loan or the credit card if taken out in 2000 but the can look at the ones in 2004 & 2003 respectively.

You can start proceedings within the county court, if egg then state they believe they are statute barred there is a way of countering this by saying you have only just become aware of the possibility of mis selling, but as no precedent has been set it is upto each individual judge to decide whether he / she will hear the case

FOS use this "when did you become aware too" don't they. This is what they asked me with the co-op and i did not ask them. I just let them know of my others which are not in date as over 7 years old, they then rang and asked that question to me??

each claim I submit for someone I always put they had just become aware of it - if it's 3 loans and 2 are outside the jurisdiction dates I always put all 3 account numbers down, but put the date of the last taken out as the date the mis selling took place - if you try to put that date as being prior to coming under their jurisdiction they will automatically reject it - you've got to try to slip these things in but there is no guarantee any recommendation will be made to uphold the initial 2
