    It's me again I'm afraid,
A few questions about Halifax cetelm.

December 2002 we purchased a 3 piece suite from CSL, we received a letter from Halifax cetelm with the following

    Agreement number XXXXXXXXX

    Your monthly payments - 43 X £50.40 = £2167.20

Payment Protection Insurance - You have elected to take payment protection insurance - Enclosed is policy document which details your cover

There is NO breakdown of the cost of the PPI - Should this be documented in the paperwork at all.

    Original receipt from CSL states
Total for 3 piece suite & leather care
    £2408.00 - Deposit £473 = £1935

    So I take it that

£2167.20 - £1935 = £232.20 (PPI cover? not detailed on any paperwork). All agreements were signed in CSL.
Would you say we had a reasonable claim for mis-selling of PPI?

Thanks in advance again for any help, and apologies for the long post

You need a copy of the credit agreement - is this that document?

The paperwork I have is the original order form, the delivery invoice, delivery date letter, the PPI policy document & the letter with the agreement number on. I don't remember receiving a credit agreement. Do I have to do the SAR with them?

  • Just had a quick scan of my figures of my case that is with FOS at the moment. Took out a loan with Barclays for £55K to which they added £13.5K PPI so loan totals £68.5K to be paid over 20 years. My payments have averaged out at around £600 per month. I have had the loan for 3 years come this september. I'm not good at maths but even by my calculations I have paid them, come September approx £21,600. I have checked my balance for the loan myself, based on the last statement - as now the case is with FOS they are ignoring my requests for a settlement figure - and my balance stands at around £66K. Which means that (by my reckoning) I have paid back the front loaded PPI and after i've cleared some of the interest, will start paying of the loan and start to see the balance fall. So even though I've paid them £21K plus - I've only reduced my balance by about £2K. My maths might be off here but, how can they justify this? To rub salt into the wound, got a letter today telling me that due to the interest rate increase???my payments have gone up and are now £640. Marvelous and simply fantastic. This would be so funny if it weren't so flippin' sad. Hurry up FOS.

Just a quick question here. Do secured loans under the consumer credit act 1974 taken out in 2000 for under £25k fall into the exempt under the laws of the CCA. I have just looked at the citizens advice website and it says they are exempt.
