    thank you very much.
  • I recived money back from my 2nd A&L PPI Loan around £1800. Now I have got information regarding my 1st loan with them before I refinanced it using the 2nd loan.

Now whats my chances of claiming on the 1st loan bearing in mind they already paid out on the 2nd loan?

Is it worth sending the letter off and has anyone been in this situation for any advice

Just spoken to Firstplus about my claim and i was told that Firstplus became regulated to sell insurance in nov 2001 by GISC and then by the FSA. If they were not regulated at all in 2000 when i had my loan should they have been allowed to sell it. I know they are saying that Freedom Finance actually sold the insurance but it was prefilled in on Firstplus's agreement.
  • Also i had barclays loans which finished more than 6 years ago any chance of getting barclays to give me information on these? I already requested but they sent my my fathers details, could I complain about this data protection and all that? They also have my fathers barclaycard prodcuts on my barclays account its a mess I have complained about this last time I heard they was going to get these deleted from my bank account. But still not heard anything nor recieved any information on any of my loans

Help I need a bit of advice. I Sent the template letter off to GE Home Money Lending requesting they reimburse me for my ppi on a secured loan I had three years ago. They definately mis sold the policy as I didn't realise that it was only covering 5 years and we paid a single premium for the policy and repaid the loan after only a year.
They replied telling me that they did not sell me the policy it was a company called Advantage, although I never had dealings with this company and was almost certain that GE were just playing games I sent the same template to Advantage just to be certain and guess what they have no records. Advantage were understandably unhappy that GE had tried to pass the buck and tried to contact GE in order to sort it out on my behalf but were told they did not hold authority to discuss the matter. Advantage have advised me to find all copies of documents relating to the loan and ppi and send them with copy of the letter they sent me today to GE.
What shall I write in my covering letter? Is there a piece of legislation regarding companies that deliberately try to dodge the bullet? Shall I threaten them?
I have found my original documents and every piece says Igroup, which from what I can make out was the name they used to go by but does this mean I cannot reclaim?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated as I'm really no good with these things:D

Can anyone suggest what to write in a complaint letter to the FOS as both companies are still denying liability (even though I sent them copies of all documents relating to the ppi which has GE logos all over them!)

I'm really no good at writing complaints letters :embarasse

Thought I would share my slightly amusing story with people on this thread. Wrote to my bank, earlier this month asking for details of loan. Simply wrote stating that I wanted copies of my terms and conditions as I no longer had them.
The bank apparently tried to contact me by phone but were unsuccessful. Anyway they sent me a compliment slip asking for me to contact a rep from my local branch. So I rang them to see what they wanted and was told.
"Sorry we no longer have copies of your loan agreement or other details because they were destroyed as as a result of a rodent problem". ???
So not willing to discuss anything over the phone, I told them I would contact them shortly, as soon as I hung up I wrote a letter asking for 2 things.
    1) the information regarding rodent problem being put in to writing
    2) reclaim my PPI.
This letter was then hand delivered to the bank yesterday afternoon, at about 20:00 about 4 hours after I spoke with the bank on the phone. Obviously the bank was closed then.
So today at 13:30 got a text from my wife, bank had called stating they had now found the original paperwork. ???
    So to simplify.
    "Sorry haven't got your paperwork"
    "Okay put that in writing"
"No it's okay we found it now"
    comical. :D

    Latest in this saga.

I've just rec'd a letter from RBS (Natwest) asking me to fill in a questionnaire relating to my claim for PPI repayment. Has anyone else rec'd one of these questionnaires.

These are the questions, it does state that it is NOT obligatory to complete this, I have declined to answer their questions because all necessary information is included in my original letter.

    1) Please confirm your employment status when you applied for the policy, e.g. employed, self-employed, retired, etc

    2) Please confirm your total working hours per week when you applied for the policy.

    3) Please provide details of any existing policies that you held, or if appropriate, details of why you now feel that you had no requirement for the plan.

    4) Please confirm how you applied for the policy, e.g. through a NatWest or RBS branch (please provide name of branch), over the phone or via the internet.

    5) Please provide details of the loan / credit arrangement, e.g. personal loan, credit card, mortgage, overdraft etc, that the policy was taken out to protect:

    Type of credit arrangement:
    Name of provider / lender:
Loan account number / reference number:

    6) Please provide your recollections of the description of the policy that was given to you by the seller. If you believe that the plan differs to the description given, please explain how.

    7) Did you provide the staff member with any details of any cover that was in place before proceeding with the application and what was the seller’s response?

    8) Did the adviser provide you with any brochures / literature regarding the policy and level of service that you being provided to you? If so please list the titles of these documents and, if possible, please provide copies.

    9) If there are any further issues you would like this office to investigate, please detail them below.

    10) Please provide any other information that you feel may be relevant to your claim.

Is this a new tactic of the banks?

I have this silly insurance on my Amex card, they phoned me last week to say that I was £1.04 short in my last payment to them - I guesstimated what I owed because I hadn't received my bill. Whilst speaking to chap on the phone I mentioned this RPI and told him that I never wanted it and wanted to cancel it with immediate effect - he said I would get it all back but I would have to phone their insurance company. B*gger that I thought, so I wrote to them adapting one of Martin's letters for the purpose and cancelling the thing at the same time - the wheels must grind very slowly in the Amex office because they have sent me another bill with this wretched RPI on it:mad: I'll give them until Monday and if they haven't responded I will contact the financial ombudsman for his opinion.

    Hi Laini,
Thanks for the template SAR letter, I've used it this week for GE Money Home lending, it looks very professional, I'm hoping it will frighten them into throwing my PPI back at me lol.
