Information taken from DirectGov
Self employed contributions will not generally qualify you for contribution-based Jobseekers Allowance.
Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
This is based on your income and savings. You may get this if you have not paid enough National Insurance contributions (NICs) (or you've only paid contributions for self-employment) and you're on a low income.
I'll need to check the scant paperwork received again but I am sure that it says that I would have to register with JCP to make a claim. This ppi was really of no use to me or anyone who was self-employed. You cannot anticipate 3 months in advance if you'll be out of work or not. Quite ridiculous0 -

Did you ever try to make a claim on the PPI with the company??? Who advised you that you had to first register and wait the 12 weeks after registering with the JCP. Was it the company that the PPI was with or the JCP???0 -
That's correct but the reality of this situation was that I would have been homeless. Unfortunately, when you're under a tremedous amount of pressure and you've been told by a company that it's not their problem. You're really not going to hang around when you about to loose your home. I was in court the first week in January and this occured in December.
I was informed by JCP that it would take up to 12 weeks to receive any money and it was money that SPML wanted and nothing more. They were not interested in helping me and I was the one that had to remind them that I had ppi. Did not refer to this at any time whats so ever.0 -

When was this actual PPI dated and also who sold it to you?? Was it Ocean that actually sold it??0 -
Cracked on with the FOS form, just need to print out the copies of the evidence I have to send with it.
Should be fully completed tomorrow.:D
I nodded off earlier, only had 2 hours kip last night, not even 4 hours the night before......:o , I should be used to it by now but I just seem to be nodding off anywhere lately......

I asked Barclays to look at the way in which PPI was sold to me in May. I had a letter early June to say they would respond to me no later than the 26th of June.. on the 23rd of June, I got a letter to say they would respond no later than 24th of July, and then 22nd of July I get a letter to say they are not in a position to provide me with a full response just yet but will do as soon as possible. They included the FOS leaflet with this letter. I've not heard nothing since.
Is this a good sign or a bad sign?
Should I be contacting the FOS or just write back to Barclays to remind them that I am still waiting and have not forgotten about it?
Many thanks for your help.
I also received the exact same letters obviously with different dates, I contacted the FOS and have just received a response from them today to say they are sending Barclays details of my complaint and are asking them to deal with the matter, they say they (Barclays)should issue a final response within 8 weeks, if they do not put things right or i do not hear from them then i need to go back to FOS, here's hoping!!0 -

Hi hun.
Blimey didn't Barclays already have their chance to respond to you with their final response ?
I would contact the FOS and tell them you have already been through this stage and its way over the deadline dates.
In the meantime write back to Barclays and tell them as they have not responded you have already taken up the complaint to the FOS, send this by recorded post and you could always ask if they will reconsider and uphold your complaint within 7 days, and if you hear nothing and they still do nothing then continue with the FOS.
Enough is enough, but yep I would tell the FOS about what you have told us.
Have you been given a direct email contact ?
You could always ring as a quicker method.
Hope I have not misread this hun, its late, so apologies if I have lol.:o
All the best.
Di.

The ppi was sold via Ocean Finance but I can not recollect receiving any paper work relating to the policy. This is where I believe the problem occured. The only paperwork I have relates to the Credit Agreement and possibly FSA code of conduct. I am meticulous about paperwork that's why I didn't even remember that I'd ppi because there was so little info provided. Thanks0
