I posted this on another thread but now realise that this is the right place and hope someone knowledgable can help!
I just rang lloyds to cancel my PPI, the guy I spoke to didn't sound very happy that I was cancelling it.
So now I'm going to try and reclaim my PPI because I only work 5.5 hours a week and if I'm understanding right, you need to be working over like 8 hrs a week for it to be valid. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
But the question I wanted to ask was on the PPI template letter you have to put the address of the people who sold you the card/insurance. Do I put Lloyds' general address or the branch I got it from?!
Sorry if the answer seems really obvious! Thanks
Hi there.;)
Yes go for it, even though you may get a response that it still would have covered you for life cover, hospitilisation, job solutions, they sent a reply like that to me and I was a homemaker, not working at all !
But don't let that put you off, its just a standard response.
With mine it was the credit card ppi, which I sent the details/letters to Card operations in Brighton.
To double check this, you should have some paperwork with the address details on them in case of any complaints, because I am aware it is different again for loans/ppi to credit cards.;)
I am yet to try and persue on the loan - ppi side of it.
Good luck !

We took out a loan with BArclays in July 07 over 10 years and did not realise till march if this year that we owe about £11,000 more than we borrowed if we wished to pay of the loan. we were told this was because of PPI which was added to the loan. It is secured against our property. At the time of taking out the loan we were not informed of how the PPI worked and were not aware that it was even on there. We have been told that if we do not make a claim within the first five years of the loan we can claim the PPI back. We were not offered a monthly alternative and did not know we even had PPI. Since August of last year my husband has been self employed so it is not longer valid for him i would presume. We have had the loan for 2 years so would need to wait another 3 years in order to claim the money back. Can we do anything about it before then. Any advice would be greatfully received.
Also we have been paying about £80 a month for the last 2 to 3 years for PPI on an overdraft but again we did not realise what it was for and thought we had no choice but to pay it. Can we also claim that back again it is with Barclays Bank.0 -

Hi there.
It seems like you have grounds to make a complaint for mis selling.
Send them a reclaim complaint letter, there is a template for this on this site, just delete what does not occur to you and add any further info if not added in the template.
Add in the letter if they do not uphold your complaint and refund you and put you back in the position as if you did not have PPI from the start you will take this complaint to the financial ombudsman service.;)
You should also request the 8% interest of what a court would award too, this would be on top of your premiums already paid in this.
If this loan is still active it is more than likely they will just adjust the amount from the policy, if paid off you should recieve a cheque payment.
I would give them 28 days, some give more in weeks, and some only give them 14 days, but maybe because it the very first letter, I'm sure 28 days is giving them long enough.
Regarding the overdraft, check out your bank statements, if you want to add the amount on here, someone should get back to you on this matter.;)
Give us a yell if you require more info and the best of luck !

I have another question regarding PPI that I would like some help with please. In my demands and needs section it says that one of the reasons I was offered this PPI was because of the hospitalisation part, loan gets paid for that month and daily after 7 days. But in the small print at the back it says hospitalisation is only for those aged 65 to 70. I am 38 and my husband is 44. Where do I stand with this ?
Hi hun.
I would write to them and question this...... , and mention that none of this makes any sense, mention the small print.
You should also try to reclaim on this if you believe this was mis sold.;)
Good luck !
Di.

Thankyou Di
I take it our PPI is the single payment type as it was added at the beginning of the loan. I have had a look at the letters and am not sure which one i need to send. Do i need to know the exact amounts that i am reclaiming. THanks again i will check through my bank statements and try to work out how much was taken with regard to the overdraft i think it is about £1500 in total and we are still paying £16 per month on the overdraft we have at present are we able to cancel that and tell them we dont want it. They know my husband is self employed so it is of no use to him.0 -
Morning all,
I started the reclaim process for PPI from CSL for a 3 piece suite, sent the original claim to Halifax Cetelem, who wrote back saying it was CSL who sold the policy. So I wrote to CSL with the standard SAR request & £10 cheque, they haven't cashed the cheque, but they did ring my home number yesterday leaving me a message to ring them in regards to my complaint.
My question is, should I ring them or do all the negotiation through letters?

Hi Sparky
I would correspond by letter as you then have copies if you need to take it further e.g. FOS. Good Luck:rotfl::mad:0 -

with regards to the loan
You don't need to know the exact amount you are reclaiming. Just get the first template letter out and you have to give them 8 weeks to repsond to you. If they have not responded in the 8 weeks then you can go to the FOS with this type of complaint. If they do respond but it is a "no" which may happen after the first letter then you send the second letter out . They then still have to respond to you and it has to have the words "final response" on it before you can take this to FOS. FOS will not look into your complaint without first getting a final response or if you have not had any response within 8 weeks and you can prove (so make sure you send the letters out recorded delivery) your first correspondence then you can take this complaint to them.
Also check the terms and conditions if the self employment is covered or not. Sometimes it is covered if you are paying class 2 ni and other conditions are met. Its still missold to you though as you did not know about the type of policy you were having.0 -
