Thank you for the reply, I got the loan in sept 07 from a company called Blemain I dont think I could say it was misold. They didnt say I couldnt have the loan without the policy so im not sure what to do with this. It covers me for 3 years out of 5 but you still pay for 5 years and its a lot of money for that two years Can I do anything about it being this loan when the interest is calculated upfront?

    Hi there.
Did they actually tell you the loan was optional and explain the exclusions etc ?
And would you have been eligible?, for instance a back problem for example which is pre-existing are not normally covered, so it may be worth checking out your terms and conditions.
It does work out expensive these products and if they did not explain to you the full cost of this and it was added in with the loan they they did not sell you this by using the guidelines.
I assume the insurance was added to the loan in your case ?
    And:-please remind me.........
is the loan still active ?

    Thanks.;)

You could ask them to look into this as unfair terms in consumer contracts if you did not understand the terms of this and if they say its tough then tell them that you will take this to the Financial Ombudsman to look into this for you.

What are the terms if you cancel the policy also?? I would bet that you would only get a small amount back if any.

  • My ex-partner and I had a joint loan with First Plus, and I definately think we were missoled PPI.

We are no longer together, ( I do not know where or how to contact her ). Can I persue First Plus for compensation in my name only?

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks

    Andy.

I will bet you that Firstplus will not release anything to you without your ex's authority as well. Do you have all the paperwork still???

Was the PPI to cover both of you or just a single policy and joint life. I would imagine it was the main wage earner that was covered. If the ppi was just in your name then you could claim it just in your name i would imagine. When i had trouble with these they always wrote letters just my husband although it was a joint life, single accident sickness cover until i told them it was a joint policy as my name was apparently on the life cover???

    When was the loan?

Perhaps Tiggrae has come across this one???

I agree with Marshallka, but however, I would try to track your ex down maybe by contacting mates/relatives etc, because in my opinion you both suffered the consequences of this due to paying higher repayments for this if you know what I mean, so you could always meet down the middle with this reclaim if successful.;)
    Just an idea this really.;)

Good luck, but unfortunately I know them only too well, they won't pay up unless you start court proceedings

Hi tiggrae, hope you are well?

Just thought I would let you know MINT offered me the rest of my charges yesterday and are sending me a cheque for £77 in respect of credit card charges - I asked for £101 including interest and they have paid up £95.05 in total - I'm glad I persevered! :j

Good Luck to all of you claiming back YOUR money - keep trying as I did - it only took 2 months and I got the lot back! (Well barr £6 odd - but who cares!! :rotfl: )

Just got to get onto Barclaycard now..........!!
Barclaycard PPI £274.84: Currently with FOS
Barclaycard Fees £226.87: Still being hit with overlimit fees due to BC lowering limit
    MINT £101.61: Accepted offer for £95.05! 17/08/08 :T
Abbey: Waiting for list of charges
  • Hi all, been very busy I see. So any ideas if i can do anything about the PPI on the overdraft? started in 2000 and cancelled in Jun. Surely there must be something I can do! (apart from sending them a !!!! in a jiffy bag of course) All ideas and suggestions greatly received!
LTSB PPI - £770 ish for dad
