I've been avidly viewing over the past few weeks after looking at the PPI reclaim article and this is my first post so here goes.
I too have a Firstplus loan for £30k with the PPI cover costing £7,437, I had no idea that this only covered me for 5 years and that we would pay over £14k for this insurance over the life of the loan.
I claimed misselling from Firstplus but they will take no responsibility as the loan and the insurance was sold to me by Personal Loan Express.
Firstplus claimed to have forwarded my complaint to PLE but after no response for 6 weeks, I wrote directly to PLE and had a reply after 2 days from the Adminstrators of PLE (they went into adminstration in April 2008).
Now I am stuck - our loan agreement says Firstplus (with PPI box preticked) and the insurance document says Firstplus and is underwritten by Barclays Dublin.
I am tempted to go to the FOS but I am not sure whether they deal with companies in administration. PLE's website and telephone number still operates.
Would be really grateful for anybodies take on what to do next.
Contgratulations to all who have been successful and good luck to those still fighting.0 -

Otherwise you can use Section 75 if the Consumer Credit Act 1974 which makes a Credit Grantor (First Plus in this case) liaible for the actions of their authorised agents0 -
I am trying to claim PPI on my Barclaycard account which I have closed in 2006. When I arrived to the UK and opened my bank account, the staff of Barclays offered me a credit card and pushed me to sign up to PPI as they told me it was the only way to get my application accepted as I did not have any credit history. Obviously, back then (2003) being new to this country, I did not know any different and accepted and never questioned it.
Barclaycard sent me their final response after 3 days from my letter, saying that they acted in the right way, blah blah blah... I have sent my complaint to the Ombudsman and am now awaiting their feedback on the case.
Has anyone had any similar experiences?

i am wondering if someone can advise me if i have a case.i took out a loan with northern rock last october and was told that if i took gold level insurance i would qualify for the lower interest rate or the silver level which would cost less but loan apr would increase so they both worked out at similar total.i was told that without the insurance my application would probably be turned down.not sure if i have grounds to complain or not.0

Its about joint liability if something like this happens and you can use this against Firstplus under section 75 of cca 1974. If she is on later or tomorrow i am sure she will explain it better but don't give up.0 -

There are lots on here the same, you need to wait now for the FOS to get back to you but it is within their jurisdiction which is one good thing. Good luck0 -

The point is do you think it was missold to you. Did it benefit you and did you ask for it. If not then i would complain.
Was it a front loaded policy and what if you cancelled it would you get anything back. The ones that are the worst are the ones that you pay for at the start of your loan up front and then if you cancel you get a very unfair rebate if any.0 -

Just a quick question, when I write to CSL for my full SAR, I have the head office address, should I send the request there or to the CSL store I bought the suite from?
Thanks sparky
send it to head office by recorded delivery it costs about 1.08 (post office orange label) you can use track and trace on royal mail site to see when they have signed for it then count 40 days from that pointstill fighting for my money !!!0 -
