PPI Reclaiming discussion Part II

We wrote to Natwest a few weeks ago as we realised that my o/h was paying ppi on his credit card that we didnt know about. Royal Bank of Scotland have now sent a questionnaire to complete that asks for more specific details of taking out the policy, so they can investigate further, they have also included their complaints procedure. Has anyone else received one of these and is it ok to fill in, I presume they wont take the matter further without us completing it? Has anyone else had success with Natwest?0

I do recall someone else saying they had received a form like this,I remember them saying they were wary about filling it in as it was giving information TO the lender, so they would know just how much YOU know so to speak, check with M.colak on that one first, dont send anything off yet.
When youthink about it....they should have ALL the nformation, so are they just fishing ?;)
I also remember the other person saying they had been told it wasnt compulsory to fill it in , it was purely on a voluntary basis.
First steps are....
send off Martins template letters....
Request your SAR Subject Access Request ,they hold all your information for 6 years by law. (so why do they want more details from you?)
You must include a £10 cheque/postal order for this and they send within 40 days the details to you.0 -
Thanks Kaia, the questionnaire is as a result of the first template letter and you are right it does state it is voluntary. Should I send the 2nd letter? How do I check with M.colak, sorry fairly new to the board!0

You called??
Joking aside the banks have started to get canny about PPI reclaims. This could be a honest questionnaire to ascertain the loan date and when you took it out and your details so they can cross reference it (I don't think so). If you see any questions asking about the interview for the loan put in it i reference my letter dated such and such. We don't have the 5th amendment like America so you could inadvertantly revoke your claim by putting in details of insurance (you had or didn't have) so as they can justify selling you the PPI. This information has nothing to do with them and if they had followed the law they should have carried out a needs and demands questionnaire at the loan application to determine if the PPI would benefit yourself. If you want post the questions and will tell you what to put.0 -

Thanks for replying:A
They are asking employment status, hours worked and existing policies held at the time.
They then ask us to recollect how we applied i.e branch, phone (it was branch)
They ask whether its a credit card or loan etc (isnt this obvious from my letter?!)
They ask to recollect if the seller gave any description of the policy or if the plan differs to the description given (they didnt mention the policy, hence the letter!)
They ask whether we already had cover in place and did we tell the seller this (no and no)
They ask if the salesperson provided any literature regarding the policy (again no!)
They ask are there any further issue we wish to complain about that we would like them to investigate
and also any other info we want to give and have asked for a daytime telephone number.
I feel like putting sarcastic answers to it all as surely its all self explanatory or they should already have the info
Thats about it!0 -

Just play their game give them a daytime telephone number as your home number but warn them against harrasment or although it won't be monitored all day there is an answerphone.
Then put if there is any information that you require which you already do not hold/should hold in relation to the complaint then please don't hesistate to request the information with a suitable explainantion of why you no longer hold said information.
