thanks everyone for all your kind words
we got told on monday there were going to be redundancies, tuesday I was told it was between me and my colleague then yesterday at 4pm i drew the short straw.
only been there 2 1/2 years but loved it - its just cos of the credit crunch and the housing market I am (was) an interior designer for a builder/developer so saw it coming but its still a shock.
so I have more time now to chase more complaints - so watch this space

    Laini xx:j

Sorry to hear about your redundancy Laini. Still, all these things are sent to try us and they say every cloud has a silver lining.

They are only after winners of claims for now:eek: . No, i don't think that it will affect our Firstplus. These went into liquidation some years ago and if you look at my post above it states that barclays acquired firstplus from the woolwich etc. and it looks like this sister company was set up as that one was wrapping up.

Laini, the person i was dealing with at some point in firstplus was named as the same surname (different 1st name) as someone who is being searched in the american company. This is only a few weeks ago (11th May, 2008) so i wonder if anything will happen to this company here.(they had links) It is scary stuff really to think what was happening within a company that is the sister company of the one we are dealing with.

I really hope you get your money asap now.

HELP NEEDED. I was on the forum a couple of days ago and asked for advice on trying to claim back the PPI from GE Money. The Financial Ombudsman Service returned my enquiry forms stating that as GE Money were not members of the General Insurance Standards in 2003 they were unable to help me. Some kind person replied on the forum and said that they thought I would have to take GE to court. I have emailed companies who say that they can fight this for you on a no win no fee basis and wondered if anyone had any feedback on this. The company that I was considering is called jskclaims but obviously don't want to sign anything until I know if this is a reputable firm. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am determined GE Money are not going to get away with this. If possible an email would be greatly appreciated as I get lost looking for posts on this website (it's my age)
    Thanks Jill
