thanks and thank you again for a quick response :-)

Both loans were arranged by the bank themselves, no brokers involved. I have copied the template with my reasons for why I think I was mis sold, luckily I have copies of both agreements.

One question though, my loan with Abbey is still ongoing so I can I still try to claim back the PPI.

I take it Co-op are not very forthcoming in refunding PPI's :-) I will have to try to find the thread.

    Again thank you

Wow your eager lol.:D Well done.

Yes if you believe you were mis sold the ppi with Abbey then you can still try to reclaim on that one too, you can cancel this too but I think they may try to reschedule your loan for this, EG: take out a new loan without the cover, will have to check on this or maybe someone else could confirm this, I know there is a list for banks on that site I gave you earlier which may explain this.

There maybe options on the above I am not certain as every bank is different.

But yes hun if you were also mis sold on the Abbey ppi I would reclaim on that one too.;)

  • I know and the reason being because its my money and its alot of money :-)

Not sure what to do with the Abbey one, do I cancel the PPI and then try to reclaim or just go straight to reclaiming.

I think I'm more geared up to get it back simply because my sister has sat back and let her bank build up the bank charges and she must be owed thousands and I'm just not prepared to let that happen to me. I only came across this site because of the credit crunch and was looking for ways to save money and then I saw the PPI bit and I was gobsmacked and started thinking back to when I took my loans out.

I will send the letter to the Co-op this week but I really could do with further advice regarding the Abbey one.

Hiya, yes like Di says, I have a complaint in now with the FOS for the co-op but it was of four loans and the second to pay off the first and that is why it is in juridiction. I also have been told that the only the reason why FOS are able to look into this is that I have the agreements going back to that date and also the settlements. Until FOS knew of this they told me that they would not be able to look into complaints of that age. I will just have to see.

I would just write to them and tell them you have been missold and see how it goes from there. They have offered me a goodwill geture of one loan (being the lowest PPI) and I have refused as all four were sold in the same way. The misselling of all four comes to a total of £9K odd and they offered me one totalling £1K odd as full and final. Good luck. You may be lucky and have them offer you the one you have without the need to go to the FOS.

It would depend on cancelling the abbey one as to your terms and conditions of cancelling the PPI. If this was a single premium and front loaded you sometimes only get a very small rebate against what it actually cost you and this would hardly reduce your payments at all. It would tell you on t and c's as each company can be very different.

I would say approx 10 years, oh dear its not looking good anywhere is it ?

The annoying thing about it - was the fact the month before they thrown all 400 out, they did make 120 redundant with redundancy pay, and everthing that was owed to them, now this steelplant knew they were in trouble so why on earth did they not warn these 400 ??
It was a very tough time last Christmas, no money, stuff all and the jobcentre would not help any of them until the new year !!!

It was on TV the papers etc, now a Russian firm has taken over and now being refurbished, so its going to be a little while longer before they decide to take the steel workers back on, my hubby's name they have on the priority list to go back, but its all down to time and I hope very much my hubby picks up, he loved it there, they were all like family I suppose.......

    Story here

My hubby has also left the first comment below that page.

Here below is a write up of the new buyer but they are nowhere near ready yet !

I am a believer that sometimes the medication in situations like this can do more harm than good. I think the less you rely on the meds the better. That is just my opinion. I think half these tablets should be banned. Often talking and exercise can help better than meds and accepting what has happened to you. Sometimes docs just dish them out willy nilly and then it becomes too hard to stop taking them. People then become dependant and cannot move on. It takes a lot of strength to come off meds but can sometimes be the turning point in someones life. Life throws lots of poop at you but you have to learn to throw it back.

Life is like a wild tiger, you can either lie down and let it lay its paw on your head or sit on its back and ride it.;)

And yes I agree with you, I have known people to become reliant on them, I would much prefer to try natural ways to try and get through this, yoga for one is a good one and I am trying to get hubby to change his lifestyle a bit too, its not easy due to also having a child with needs, but luckily I have an older son who is as good as gold and will help out where he can.;)

But its getting to the stage that hubby is argumentative even with our son with needs, this is not right and I have to be that piggy in the middle, I do think his parents have not helped the situation with molly coddling him mind you......:o .
But yes hun I agree with you fully.;)

Are you saying that your hubby was molly coddled. I think you may be one needing help soon Di. Its hard trying to buck someone up when they are down and look after the family doing your role too. Your child with needs needs you and you then will need your hubby "whole". Maybe a bit of family therapy here would not go amiss. For YOUR sake. What about what Di wants and needs. (besides her PPI back and fast tracking).

lol, yep I say he was and still is molly coddled, put it this way, he could just have the sniffles, the following day his mum will ring and see how her baby is....:o  , yet when its us women we have to get on don't we ?

My youngest he is 13 now, he will come home from school sit with me, I will go through his homework with him, sort out tea, although hubby will help out big time with the cooking and will take his mind from being so down, so he will have a go with that, then my son will have a little go on the X-box 360, waits for his big bruv to come home and spend a bit of time with him, although weekends if fine he will spend his time up his aunts farm.;)
I love my time with him though, I know he is growing up but at least I try to let my kids grow up, unlike some with not cutting of the apron strings lol........:D

    I know what you mean though lol.........:o :D .
