    Hi every one.
    Hope you are all well.

I am just seeking advice (yet again) about cancelling ppi.

I wrote complaining about mis selling and they wrote back with the usual blurb telling me not mis sold blah blah blah. Anyway they said i could cancel policy so I contacted company and asked to cancel policy.

Had a response offering me £120.00 rebate in full and final settlement of complaint.

I wrote back pointing out that this is for cancelling policy and as my complaint is with FOS for mis selling i would accept their offer as a part payment and that I understood this amount would be taken into consideration if FOS ruled in my favour about mis selling.

I had another letter saying that as I had rejected their original offer of £120 they would like to offer me £400 in full and final settlement of my compalint.

I have now written this letter and would like any advice before I send it.

    WITHOUT PREJUDICE

Further to your letter dated *********, I would like to respond as follows.

I would like to once again confirm that my complaint has been forwwarded to the Financial Ombudsman Service with the respect to the mis sellin of this policy.

My recent correspondence with yourself has been about the cancellation of my policy.

I would like to accept your offer of £400.oo in closure of the matter of cancelling the policy.

I understand that this amount will be taken in consideration by the Financial Ombudsman Service regarding the mis selling of the insurance and this amount would be deducted from the total balance of the amount if i were to be successful in my claim for mis selling.

    Yours sincerely

Hi there hunni and hope your well too.;)

I know they are offering you a higher amount but are you happy with that hun ?
I take it they are denying mis selling then ?

Who was the loan with again ?

Looks like they are trying to settle without going through the FOS. Have you asked them to post how they have worked out the settlement figures. Do you know how much you should be getting back. If you have posted this before I apologise.:D

    Hi there,

The loan was with my good friends blemain finance sold through my even better friends Ocean Finance.

Blemain told me to get lost over mis selling and werent covered by FOS but then i came on here for a grumble and realised it was Ocean finance as the broker who I could complain against.

have sent everything off to FOS about mis selling of policy but this is about cancelling.

Im really worried that if I accept a refund through cancelling policy FOS wont fight for mis selling.

But at same time worried that if i totally reject offers for cancelling and then FOS say I wasnt mis sold I will end up with nothing.

    Its giving me headaches lol.

So basically no not entirely happy with amount as this particular one was 812.00 plus another 600 and something interest.

    Hi there Graham
Well done on your receiving your PPI back..... :T , brilliant news.

I think what you may be paying for is your account and the benefits that come along with it, I pay £10 a month for mine and believe this is also to do with car breakdown, mobile cover, etc etc, and to protect the account, for example for any losses of theft.

I may be wrong in your case but still worth checking it out directly with your bank.;)
If you have the terms and conditions of your account this may explain what you are paying for altogether which may also include protecting your money, ie: overdraft etc.;)

Well done to you again hunni.:T

Di, that is not overdraft protection that you have. I have the same as you and it allows you the use of the overdraft without overdraft fees. I think the poster was on about the overdraft protection that allows you to make payments towards the overdraft in sickness and redundancy etc.

Hellooooooooo there AC hope your okay hunni....:D ;) .

Blimey what date did you request for the SAR hun ?
If well over the date complain to the ICO (Information Commissioners Office), do you know if they have debited the £10 payment out of your account AC?

I would meanwhile still send in a reclaim letter of all your reasons, you know how it goes.....:D .
When was it when you first had this HFC card hun ?
    Hi Di x

    Gosh its busy over here;)

I sent the full sar and they sent printed computer screens but no PPI info and no credit agreement though i have been advised that this will be with me at some point:rolleyes:
The Household bank flexible loan was taken out in Jan 2005 OH went into the branch as was struggling with payments their advice was to take out a further flexible loan (basically a credit card which threw him into further debt) to pay off the original debt with them and to use it to pay other debts. Then he was made to feel that PPI had to be added as he was a risk!! he was under pressure and did not question it

    There's good friends you have there.....not...... .

Right hun you can cancel to my knowledge and this should not affect your complaint with the FOS, you can make sure to see what the others have to say here too hun, but I do know even if you cancel they will not pay back all of the PPI anyway, you will get the rest of it back through the FOS.

The majority have cancelled and still won through mis selling with the FOS dealing with it.;)
