Have just found this thread and read through it watching the videos and then see such sad news at the end

Thank you for sharing this with us, nature is a funny old thing isn't she?Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Just checked in the nestbox outside our kitchen window. It was pretty active during May, lots of cheeping when i went by, and I assumed the birds had now 'flown the nest'.
Nope, I just took the lid off and checked and all the chicks are dead. Parents must have got nailed by sparrowhawks or crows.
I've washed the box out with boiling water and will rehang it in the hope of catching a second brood.
There's another box on a tree further up the garden which still seems to be active (though no cheeping at the moment), so am hoping that brood is OK.0 -
Oh no! I've been following this thread and I'm so sorry that they didn't make it.

I have this evening opened up the box and removed the nest and dead chicks. There where also a couple of unhatched eggs.
I have used boiling water to clean the box and birdcam is now broadcasting again, although now obviously the box is empty.
Fingers crossed for a second set of chicks this year but I feel it will be a slim chance.0 -
Hiya
It's the first time I've seen this thread and what amazing pictures. Such a shame they died but hopefully you'll have more pics soon. Thanks for sharing.0 -
Well it's been 3 weeks since I cleaned out the box.......guess what!
We have a new visitor! Unfortunately it's a spider that has taken to walking across the camera in the middle of the night
I will be taking the camera offline at the end of June, keep an eye out in 2009 for Birdcam 2009!
Thanks for everyones support and comments!0 -
Well I've moved the birdcam to it's own new domain and am hosting it with tsohost so I put the new site live yesterday.
I put the camera back on line last night and lo and behold this afternoon it looks like we've had a visit from a great tit!
www.bird-cam.co.uk is the new domain and I've upload the video to youtube for anyones viewing!0 -
