chocshake wrote:The difference in that case is that the seller offered the contract to the buyer who accepted it with the mistake in, knowing that there was a mistake. In this case we all saw the invitation to treat and it is us who have made the offer to buy for 49p, which now with money leaving accounts has been accepted by homebase/argos. They had the time and the chance to not accept the offers which we all made. just a different view point.....
I'm sure i read somewhere in this thread that Argos don't take the money until they are ready to despatch the goods.
BUT i have just found this in their T&Cs 4. Payment
4.1 We take payment from your card at the time we receive your order, once we have checked your card details and stock availability. Goods are subject to availability. In the event that we are unable to supply the goods, we will inform you of this as soon as possible. A full refund will be given where you have already paid for the goods
Looks like they have covered themselves here too.0 -
Got my confirmation email at 10.04 am Sat, and have had the money taken from my account too.
Never had this much fun!!! Wonder the state of Argos this morning? Oh, what a dull life I must lead.....0 -

I suppose that could be deemed an unfair term. But don't know how you'd argue it really.:rudolf:0 -

It could also be argued that GUS didn't take reasonable steps to ensure correct pricing, Afterall they were still taking orders on Homebase HOURS after discovering the error on the Argos site.0 -
The real problem is not the person who put the price in wrong but that their system did not flag this up nor did it stop taking orders when they had exhausted stock.Down to poor management in my book. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
