Perhaps they were just going to be gifts for poor relatives living in Pakistan or Iraq.

Posted by a contract lawyer on another forum:
If they have taken your payment they are legaly obliged to honour the agreement.
If they have not taken payment they don't have to sell it to you.
The law states that a price displayed on goods and is an invitation for you to make an offer to purchase. Once they have accepted your offer i.e taken money on card/cash you then have a contract which will hold up in any court.
Don't take that as gospel though0 -
Unfortunately, Argos has not taken the money yet from my c/card.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

has anybody had e-mails cancelling orders? i still have not. what are argos and homebase up to? monlchr :beer:0

No cancellation email here - But don't for one minute think this will come off.
Also, How do you tell if you CC or DC has had payment requested. My online statements don't give an indication of this. Do you just go on 'available credit'.0 -
well i had the order confirmation email at 8.31pm that night and ive not had an email about cancelling the order. I have rang my bank to see the status of the payment after finding out about a company reserves the funds in your account until they actually take payment, but have been told that they now actually have payment and its been taken from my account and is with them. So it will be interesting to see what happens now.0

I read in the daily mail that a similar thing has happened to Dell with £3.49 computers ( dont know if it was on these boards the mistake was posted ) but they are honouring any orders that have recieved confirmation. So if one company can do it why cant another ? I vote that we all hold a mass picket outside their shops if they dont come up with the tvs for the people whose money they have took
.That will get them free publicity !
