Should I scrap my car? If so, how?

@Dont_settle earlier posted this link for
www-cartakeback-com
A great starting point, it asks for your postcode and vehicle registration number - took me about 40 seconds to get a quote for a Vauxhall (small) van I've had on my drive for ages: £160.
3x the quotes and offers I'd had for it before!
Likewise £160 for a Nissan Micra although that's still running.
I now know the very minimum I should sell it for!
Does anyone know of any other national services that can offer a similar such quick quote? He's not the MSE'er. He's a very naughty boy!0 -

it is very simple to scrap your car.. call this company called Canadian Auto Wreckers and they will pay you the most cash and pick up your junk scrap car with in hours!! i have also read on a previous post that those who pay for your car don't end up scrapping it and it end back up on the road which is the biggest joke i ever heard because most auto wreckers are licensed and after crushing your car the vin number is then sent to the MTO ministry for it to come off of your name!! companies that don't pay you for your scrap car are simply just ripping you off :beer:0

I use to work and write web sites for this market. There are only a few companies you can trust when scrapping your car others will chip you upon collection of your vehicle. The term chipping means when the collection man comes to pick your vehicle up he will try and rip you off there and then or spin you a yarn that he don't have enough money to pay you, this is called chipping.. If you approach an internet site to scrap your car goto google and look at the reviews on business maps first.. You will see these if you type scrap my car and then area into the google search... I have been placing a blogs together for this matter which I will be placing on just-nissan, this will be found on google..0

Just thought I'd let you all know that I've just been offered £300 for a 2001 Ford Escort 55 van (£135) and a 2000 Mazda Premacy (£165) both MOT failures with far too much work needing done.
That's uplifted as well so no need to drive to a Scrappie.
Don't know what you all think of that but I'm happy with it :money:
Means I can have a few more extra Beers this weekend :beer:0 -
Old thread but ....
I am having an unpleasant experience with an internet car scrapping company ( removemycar ). Having phoned the company for collection of the car I was told to wait for a representative to contact me. They duly did ( or so I believed ) and agreed a time. They turned, up and collected the car, filling in the yellow log book slip and handing over the agreed amount of cash. Fine I thought.
Then, about 15min later, I was contacted by a "real" representative of the company to agree collection. We were both confused and the company is now accusing me of selling the car to another company without notifying them ( which I believed I could have done anyway, although I had no intention of ) and wants me to pay a "consultancy fee" ( hitherto unmentioned ). What it looks like - and it would be an incredible concidence otherwise - that someone has passed on collection information to a third party who have turned up, with the reasonable belief that no one ( true in my case ) is going to question them.
So .. be careful, I doubt this is the only company where this sort of thing happens.
Some questions, though:
Assuming they are telling the truth ( and it's not a scam ) what grounds do they have for demanding a consultancy fee? Not much I should have thought...
Given I cannot not trust the address on the log book, do I have any liability for the car? Do I need to report anything to anyone ( the police? )0 -

Hi there, just a warning from some one who knows but if you scrap your scrap with an online scrap car web site be very careful! There are some sites out there that have 100's of web sites linking back to the same office.. So you ring the 0845 number or enter the web form and you get to the same place. Run a quick check on the web address from a whois search, it's just like doing a search on google but it will give you all the information about who owns the domain name.. If you would like a whois data base to use then let me know and I will point to in the correct direction...
It's free and stops you calling the same place 10 or 15 times.. More tips to follow soon!!!
Use this whois data base it's free and will keep you safe

I have replaced the dots with the word as this system thinks I am a spammer and I am placing a tools up to help you people.....0
