What are Asda playing at???

Still keeping to whoopsies on the regular shelves here in Huyton - as today's little 'foraging session' proved!
Lovely lady with the gun was just giving the fish their second reduction when I got there, and obligingly did it on trout fillets, whole trout and undyed smoked haddock for me :j ! OH thinks it's his birthday - I won't pay the higher price for something that I don't eat and can't stand the smell of  .
There seems to be a fairly recent phenomenon in our store. It's a stand with bread on that is marked 'Reduced' BUT no reduced labels on the actual items
. Now I don't know about you lot, but there's no way I'm trusting that the stuff is actually reduced. Besides that, people often have a habit of returning bread to the nearest shelf if they decide that they don't really want it after all - so I'm never sure if it's meant to be a 'proper whoopsie' or not! 0 -
also, our whoopsies are red? are we special?

Asda in Motherwell use red and white stickers on their Whoopsies. I thought that was down to the fact that was a newish store, opened October 2005, until I scouted around Asda in Newmains which only opened in December 2007 and that was yellow stickers. Worth noting for anyone living in that area, Newmains has still got Whoopsie sections in cold stuff and bakery.0 -
my local sainsburys has a whoopsie area, as we have not long moved i have only used it a few times but have learnt that they reduce about 3 times a day, the best time is normally 4.30 ish, today i happen to pop in to stock up on there milk offer and got 5 packs of bowyers pork pies for 10p, sliced apples for 5p, 3 packs of 12 warberton rolls for 45p, 2kg carrots 34p 2 tubs of melon for 30p and a king prawn curry for 79p. what bargains. One day I will live in a cabin in the woods0

I remember that the original colour of whoopsie labels WAS red and white. Maybe they just have some old labels to use up.0

My local Asda at Toryglen has now reintroduced the cold whoopsie section at the exact same place as before , just awaiting signage and my gran has said there have been compaints being made to her local Asda at Parkhead so if successful, it may be reintroduced there also.
Going by this, if you're unhappy at your Asda getting rid of Whoopsie sections, ask to speak to the store manager since it may just work.

depends on the store manager, our local one hates reduced cabinets (cause they look a mess), you can tell when he's on holiday as all the depts try to clear their junk really cheaply in foyer!!!0

Our Asda whoopsie shelf disappearer when the new store opened (Stockton) - that lasted about two weeks then they started to group all the whoopsies together again, but last time I was in it appeared to be a mixture of both systems!
Can anyone let me know when the best time is to go in Asda for the cheapest whoopsies? When do they do their final mark-down?
Any help appreciated.0 -
It prob depends on the store. Ours has someone who works 9-1 to check the shopfloor for dates and do the reductions, if theres a lot of stuff they'll reduce a bit more in the middle of the afternoon, and then anything left gets done between 7-8, and moved to the foyer0

i do the reductions for the counters at our store and bye putting stuff back where it belongs has saved us a lot of money in waste & reductions.
i was sent home a few weeks ago for telling a customer who just kept mithering and mithering for me to reduce things, including stuff that wasn't my department or even due for reduction, to f|_|ck off and leave me alone. she does it EVERY week and follows me around the store, sometimes for up to 3 hours, hovering around me even when i dont have a pricing gun. some people can get VERY pressuring when they want to save a few pennies.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
