When i worked at Tesco, products that were reduced stayed on their allocated fixture. It wasn't until 6pm, when final reductions were done, that the items were moved to the reduction bay.
Of course you had exceptions, like a high volume of the same product needing reducing, or staff shortages later in the day, etc that items were moved sooner.

Supermarkets will have a fixed protocol that every store should follow - just depends if the area manager is around that day or not ;)

My local Asda at Toryglen got rid of the Whoops sections around a month ago except at the bakery area. Now it is messy. Ususally by 7pm third and final reductions are done but the cold stuff only seems to get first reduction and I'm used to my chicken at 75% off, not 20% off!

They've started to semi-reintroduce the cold Whoops section with a number of things ending up at the end of the ready meals isle usually with three stickers but some things are still on normal shelves with one Whoops stickers.

There's no intimidating the staff at our Asda! - they just threaten to walk away with the gun and not reduce anything at all. They're worse than doctors receptionists ;) !!!

Thats what I used to do too (back when we had to write the labels out), either that or whisk everything off the shelves and disappear into the back-up area to reduce it in peace!!!! :naughty::naughty: naughty i know

As my partner and myself do not drive we do our grocery shopping at a Sainsburys only a few minutes walk away from where we live.
As we cannot carry too much at once we tend to do a small shop every night.
This was ideal for us as we could go to the reduction cabinet and wait for inspiration (and bargains) to help us decide what to have for dinner.
Now our Sainsburys have gotten rid of their reduction cabinet.
It must mean that they waste alot of food, because when you go over to the items and see that for only 21 p more you can have the same item with more edible flexibility, you tend to buy that one.
    Bring back the whoopsie cabinets!

    Interesing thread.
I used the reduced section regularly at my local Asda often to try stuff that is usually too expensive to buy normally. I think that Asda may be missing the opportunity to market more expensive goods in this "trial" fashion, which may be affecting future sales at the more expensive price. I also have a friend who does reductions at Tescos and confirms intimidation. Perhaps a store manager would like to comment on the fors and againsts in this discussion.
    stay lucky!

like the hunter / gatherer, my eyes have become very attuned with spotting a yellow whoopsie sticker down the aisles of sainsburys. Walking down the aisles is also good exercise anyway! We walk quickly.........:D :p
