What are Asda playing at???

Little trip to my local Asda this morning - only for a couple of bits - but I hadn't been for nearly 2 weeks and withdrawal symptoms were beginning to kick in!
Couldn't break the habit of a life-time, so headed straight for my favourite 'whoopsie cabinet' - not there! How peculiar, thought I and headed off for the 'other one' - again, not there!! 'Conspiracy afoot!' thinks I - and had a wander around to find out where they'd hidden them from me.
Aboslutely nothing anywhere - zilch!!!!! but lots of ladies on their knees with 'gun in hand' checking dates etc of stuff on shelves. A further wander around and things began to get a little clearer ......... the whoopsies are still there BUT on the shelves where they should be - with the familiar yellow labels in place. Going to take ages 'checking whoopsies' now  .
Was just wondering if this is general policy in all Asda stores now - or just our local one? Incidentally, ours is the one in Huyton Village, Liverpool.

Yep - they've done this in my local one too - had me wandering round for ages trying to find it! I agree with lumpy_bum - I can't see how it makes sense for them to leave the reduced bits on their original shelves. I'm sure people impulse buy more from the whoops bit because everyones crowded round and nobody likes to miss out! :rolleyes:0

i went to sainsburys last night for my whoopsie fix and they have done the same why oh why do they change things that dont need changing it took me ages to do my shopping as was hunting for the reduced stuff by the time i left i had a very unhappy hubby and an even more unhappy child so does anyone know the reasoning behind this as i dont understand why they would get rid of the fridges as like others have said you tend to impulse buy when its reduced in its own fridge0

Going to ours for the first time in ages tonight so I'll check if ours is still there!

Ours is the same  They've done this before but got so many complaints that they changed it back and now they've gone and done it again
Hope they change it back to normal soon!!

I hate this because when I want something that will last a while I end up with whoopsied ones by accident when I am in a hurry. One day I might be more organised...........

our local Asda in Lanarkshire have done this too I noticed. have condensed it from three areas down to one small area that rarely has anything in it.....what are they doing with the stuff....binning it?

maybe not ordering in as much - so less to dispose of at reduced price - miserable beggars! Possibly that or the staff are getting to them before US

They may not be binning it all, some of the stuff might be being returned to the producer. I picked up a 1l bottle of organic S/S milk which was reduced and I asked why the 3l one with the same date was not. I was told (by a manger) that none of them should be reduced as they all go back to the producer if they go out of date. (They nicely let me keep the one I had in my trolley, but the rest on the shelf had their whoops stickers removed).
Maybe this happens more often now??
