Ytaya, Frankie1star & Sarahemmm - Thanks for the info on Norwich. I've lived in this area for all my life but rarely venture to Norwich, my family are from Ipswich so thats where I tend to go, but now I have the perfect excuse to explore Norwich more!! DH is gonna love me!!!
There is a new one opened up in Ipswich about 6 months ago called "Go East" they got everything, it's like a mini Wing Yip, I go there weekly, they are at Fore Street, there number is 01473 280500, the staff there are really helpful and know what they are talking about - they even do cookery demonstrations at local events etc. There's nothing quite as good in the Ipswich area!0 -

Hey
There's also another one, not too far from this; A N A (oriental supermarket).
No website, but here's the address and phone number:
A N A Oriental Supermarket
33 Whitley Street
Reading RG2 0EG
Tel: 0118 931 0898
You can see how close it is to the other one here (see Craddock street, in the bottom left hand corner.......)

Definitely worth a look! You could do a supermarket sweep

They've been saying for 3 years now that it is being demolished, but at present it's still going strong and still no word about when and if it will be demolished. Am still going there every weekend, and was there last weekend and was told that there was no news yet about it all.
Cheers

Wow, I hope that's right.
I went there recently but it was closed and all boarded up. I was told by the passer by (a local) that they are developing the site into new flats.
Otherwise, I go to Chinatown in Soho, everything really is MUCH cheaper than is supermarkets, especially if you shop in the right shop (as there are quite a few there).0 -
hi missbargain.
Apparently the developers couldn't get the funding to develop the site so it has reverted to what it was before. Will wait and see what happens. I now go to Wing Yip in Cricklewood for my shopping, but will try Soho, thanx for that. I just liked going to Oriental City as I do most of my grocery shopping at ASDA so it's just convenient, but will try anything to save some money lol, especially as I work in central London.
Cheers

Hello CTFG,
Thanks for that info. I live in Central London, so I would not go there every week, but I would love to see it and shop there occasionally, as we love preparing asian food, especially thai and japanese. And I agree, it is also convenient to have big ASDA next door to it as well.
Yes, we were amazed how cheap the shops were in Soho Chinatown, not only for dry goods, but for many fruit and veggies as well.
I don't know the name of the shop where we shop now, but it is one of those shops on the main path as you walk into Chinatown from Shaftsbury Ave., on the left hand side. There are two of them opposite one another (they have some fruit/veggie stands at the front), actually, so it is worht going into both, as they both have their own specialties.
If you find out a bit more about the Oriental City shopping centre, please let me know, I would love to go and visit it if it opens again. Thank you.0 -
There's a smaller, very friendly oriental supermarket in Bristol in St Philips, just underneath junction 3 of the M32 - called Teohs. It is small, but they're very helpful.
They have a cafe a few shops up, as well, which is very nice!0 -
