The chinese supermarket and why I love it so...

I get al my spices from the asian supermarket in Ashton, usually 50p a pack compared to a pound for a little jar in Mr T's. We also bought sacks of onions for 2.99 which saved a fortune - need it with 2 chefs in the house!Clearing the junk to travel light

This thread makes me pine for the Chung Wah in Liverpool... or at least a bigger freezer!
Mr Maitane is obsessed with spring rolls, steamed dumplings and sui mai. I went before joining MSE and I reckon from buying just those things alone (and unfried prawn crackers) we saved quite a lot on him not walking across the road to the chinese!
If I had a bigger freezer, I'd definately buy more of the ready-made spring rolls and other delicious things and certainly a lot of the seafood which I love.
I also bulk bought instant noodles in all different forms which always get admiring glances in my office - they smell so much better than supernoodles- and sauces like sweet chilli and fish sauce.
When we go back after payday, we'll have already started to move into the new house and will have a kitchen twice as big :j so I can buy myself the 10kg bags of rice and nice big bottles of seasame oil and the like. I'm also buying myself a tea service like the ones my friends had in Hong Kong for the unfeasible amounts of jasmine tea and green tea we drink.

Its normally 99p and quite often on 2-4-1 they have a few flavours like seaweed and also the puffed up deep fried one. Freezes too - changes texture but still good. The cauldren stuff I buy in tesco was £2.75 a box last week! eeekk.
where abouts in Leeds is this please ( I'm in Ls18 )0 -

just bumping your request about this store.. it's actually at the other end of the High Road run by a Korean owner, next to the small Post Office and Yun's Chinese Restaurant. The shop's painted in v bright orange so you shan't miss it and it has veg crates on one side of the wall. they sell all the usual suspects - dim sum, fresh beansprouts, chinese veg, tofu.. lots of various kinds of noodles, frozen meat, fish.. all the sauces etc.,
hope this helps.
it's near to 104 High Rd, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 2, UK - not sure what no. it is, but it's on the corner0 -
http://www.seewoo.com/x/greenwich.html http://www.gourmetbritain.com/shops_entry.php?item=5250 is on the Greenwich Peninsula. My Thai/Chinese daughter-in-law and her sister discovered it by accident yesterday and were absolutely thrilled with it. Sorry if it has been mentioned before - I have not read everything.0

Just like to add that the canterbury one has moved and is now on broad street opp the cathedral walls, it's called Thais r us lolSometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)
It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
