Might google and see if one in bristol.I know where one is in cardiff if anyone lives that way.
we have couple of indian supermarkets close enough that I have not tried.
also got italian shop in indoor market but think its pricey but big 4 are pricey esepcially on fruit and veg its why I like lidls and aldis so much. I admit its taken time to find products thats right for us but huge money saving.

Would be v interested to know about the Cardiff one

there are 2 Chinese supermarkets on Tudor Road (cross the river from the stadium, 3 mins walk) and a fantastic little Korean Shop that sells Korean, Japanese and also some Chinese food stuff on Woodville Road in Cathays (off Crwys Road)

    happy shopping!
  • Hi, Rachel.
Hoohing in freshwater road, romford I've been there many times, my parents used to own a take away and they get their supplies from hoohing. Great thing about chinese cash n carry is that anyone can walk in and shop, you don't have these business owner only policy to go and shop.
They stock, fresh n frozen veg, "live" and frozen seafood eg: crabs, lobsters to fish, sauces.. dim sum to ready-made pancake rolls/ spring rolls.. basically it's well stocked up!
  • There is another supermarket at 334 High Street, chatham, Kent, just about to try it myself, not visited it yet so not sure about pricing. Hope this is helpful.

I live in North Kent (Medway area) and would love to know if there is one anywhere within driving distance of my home, nearest towns are Maidstone /Chatham/or at a push Canterbury. My local Tesco's hav increased their price of a small half litre bottle of white vinegar fro 47p to 89 p in the last couple of weeks .it makes it almost as dear as normal conditioner .i think Mr T's buyers are reading our hints and tips site and putting the prices up accordingly

I used to live in an area with a high Asian population and the shops were amazing. The Indian supermarket was incredible. They sold massive bags of top quality basmati for about the same price as you'd pay for the small ones in the supermarket. You could also buy tropical fruits for a fraction of what you would pay in the supermarket. What I found odd was that a lot of white people would never go into these jobs. They would look at you as if you were mad if you suggested it!

We've got a Pakistani supermarket here, the rice is not cheap really, but they've got a great selection of fresh vegetables, and different cuts of meat from the normal supermarket/butcher.

I love my local Chinese supermarket (Wai Yee Hong, Eastville, Bristol). Cheap spices. Sichuan pepper. Proper noodles. Tins with just "Contents of Many Animals (Mammal)" on the ingredients list. :)

You might be out of luck, I found this
    http://www.thai-food-online.co.uk/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=427

which says durian isn't available till May. Let us know if anyone's decided to grow them all year round:eek:
