I popped into the chinese supermarket "Yum Yum" in Worcester today. Whilst chatting to the owner she told me that she has recently opened a larger store in Kidderminster. The address is 7/8 New Road, Kidderminster and it is located on the edge of the Aldi/old Morrissons carpark.
I am nothing to do with them - just thought this may be useful to someone."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

For those of you in Birmingham - I also really love PAK Supermarket. There are few, the one closest to me is in Cape Hill. I love it. Really cheap fruit and veg, bought 1kg of garlic (really nice big gloves) for £2, 1lb of grapes 80p, they have loads of stuff you need for Indian cooking and I buy all my lentils there which are dead cheap and also all my spices. They always have great offers too, last year I bought a 10kg DAZ washing powder box for about £5...6 free-range eggs are 88p etc.
And of course Wing Yip in Erdington/Aston is a place I go to every 3 months for stuff, mainly Tofu, sauces and Pakchoi0 -

It's a sweet sticky soy sauce quite thick and gloopy. It is amazing if you roast up chicken drummers and brush it on 5 mins from the end. My last bottle was 98p from our local chinese shop in chelmsford. It's under the arches near the railway station.
I spent about 15 quid and came out with 3 carrier bag fulls.
Jasmine tea!

Hi Phyre Faerie,
Glad to hear you have been in the chinese shop in Chelmsford, im still plucking up the courage to go in? Is there a lot of choice?
For the person who asked about chinese supermarkets in Essex, there is also Hoo Hing in Chadwell Heath, Romford. I haven't been there yet but hoping to go when i have more room in my freezer!
If anyone has been, please let us know what it is like and if you know any more in Essex.
thanks

Wow, thanks!! Will have to pop down there - I went in tot he Worcester one a week or so ago, but didn't have space in the freezer so didn't pick anything up - this is easier to get to! Is it on the Aldi side of the road or opposite?0 -
Hi,
Does anyone know the details of a chinese/asain wholesaler that has recently opened somewhere on the Wirral? I think it's either Birkenhead or Bromborough.
Also, does anyone know what search terms to use when seraching on yell.com for these kind of stores? I'm not having much luck and bring directed to takeaways and restaurants.
Cheers,

Ah how marvellous that everyone is discovering the joy of the Chinese cash and carry! :j
I regularly pop into Chinatown London to get things if I can't get up to the big See Woo in Greenwich.
My top tip would be to check out their frozen prawns. You get a massive bag of tiger prawns for abou £7-8 depending on how big you want them and really put the supermarket prices to shame. They are individually frozen, so when I want to make a meal with them, I just pop them into cold water.
If you want a really quick and easy dinner for two then get a tin of the Aroy-D Green Curry, heat it up with the prawns in it and serve with steamed rice. I usually make curries from scratch but the Aroy-D one is fabulous as it's got just the right heat for me, kaffir lime leaves and bamboo shoots in it. Definitely a cupboard stand by for me!
Also my cousin's dad happens to own the Wai Yee Hong in Bristol and it's his grandfather owns the See Woo in Greenwich. But do I get a discount? NO! But hey with the prices so low, it doesn't really matter!0 -
Hi guys
For anyone in the Shropshire area there is a chinese supermarket opening up in Wellington, Telford very soon...I am very excited as I believe its the first in Telford and is really close to where I work - looking forward to popping in on my lunch break and looking for bargains0 -
The one in Leeds is ace - I think its been done out and its bigger - as a previous poster stated the Tofu is great. Its normally 99p and quite often on 2-4-1 they have a few flavours like seaweed and also the puffed up deep fried one. Freezes too - changes texture but still good. The cauldren stuff I buy in tesco was £2.75 a box last week! eeekk.0
