Welcome to the challenge brokenwings
I have spent £123.12 so far of my £190 budget. The cupboards are stocked and I have £11.30 in coupons still. I'm keeping a spreadsheet as I go and fingers crossed I should be ok with 18 days to go.

Hi everyone my grocery challenge is going really well ,I shopped in Asda yesterday, all my meat was half priced,so I got enough for 2 weeks, while I was packing my shopping into bags, the nice Asda man started scanning the money off coupons I had left on the till,I was going to ask him which ones he could take but he just scanned them all, my bill went from £68.94 down to £45.22 which was great,we had enough shopping in the trolly for about 2 weeks ,before joining the challenge we would easily of spent £120.00 a week for 4 adults ,included in this shopping was a money back offer from pedigree chum,if the dog does'nt like it you can claim your money back,so I will be getting a cheque for £3.68,this will go into my pin money challenge.0

Well I didn't officially start until 3rd September so it's the end of my first week today and so far I have spent £29.24 on "bits" as I had quite a bit of stuff in the freezer.
My target, I have decided is £240 on food and £20 on nappies and wipes. This is my first month so really I only have previous months debit card transactions on internet banking to go on but I had a habit of buying magazines, stationary, personal effects at the supermarket so I am sure I must spend a lot less on food.
I am tracking everything in excel and have allocated myself £20 per week "guilt-free-buy-what-you-like" money and at the end of week one I have only spent £7.58 so I am really pleased with that!April 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110 -
I'm hoping to set a ceiling off £240 this month for family of four, I'm hoping that will be sufficient we're a week in and I've spent just over £50, but I'm trying to have an autumn clean of my cupboards and get rid of some of the weird and wonderful things in them, things that have hung around for ages taking up room. So far my shopping has been in lidls and netto, but I may have a trip to asda today haven't been there for ages! Got a few coupons! I have been known not to buy very much in there before, but my weakness is next month when all the halloween stuff comes in  , that really blows any budget, so anything I can pare off this month may disappear in a puff of smoke then! but at least it will be there to spend (is that justifying it at all?
) i do have a few expenses this month as well though boo hoo!
I have a couple of cans of coconut milk in my stock and found an excellent recipe on this site for korma and I have a few bogof of prawns and some chicken fillets in freezer so i have a few meals covered!
I have lots of pasta and campbells condensed soups!0 -

this thread has really opened my eyes
i spend £100 per week on groceries for two people and one dog and thats including me being away for work for on average, up to three days/nights per week.
ok so i am issuing myself a challengemake it £60.
now im going to read the OS board well into the night to make sure i can meet this challenge lol
Me too! There are two of us and a dog and I thought we were doing ok until I read on here! I am have been reading these boards over the last month or so but never posted until now..
I have kept my tesco reciepts for the last couple of months and have compared them. In July the average weekly spend was £70. Over the last three weekly shops the average has been under £50. So thats a start in the right direction at least!
Even though I spend £50, we probably only eat half of that, but out of habit buy exactly the same items the following week.
I analysed the receipts and found that we spend about £15 a week on completely non-essential items, mainly junk food for weekend. This is where we need to cut down. After reading all the tips on here, I think this can de done!
Keep up the good work everybody ;-)Bank Charges Claimed: 180

Thought I'd give this a go. I've decided I'd go for around £45/week for 1 adult and two kids. They are on restricted diets etc so I've got to be careful what they have. I try to buy butcher meat where possible, but I'll have to get some TVP to bulk it out. Got a freezer full of stuff so should be able to do this. I used to spend around £10 every day in Tescos, more sometimes. This past week I've only been spending between £3 and £5. Only spent £1.29 today on some pasta, some tinned tomatoes and some bananas. I will stick with my usual budget for two adults of £100.
Mind you have been using that amount for the last 7 years and never increased it by inflation.
Maybe I should. LOL!!!!!!!!
We are well fed and watered so no complaints.

Hi.
This is my first post on MSE. Reading through this thread has inspired me so I'm going to give it a go this month. I have no idea what we normally spend so I'm going to set a target of £250 for 3 adults and 1 baby. So far I've spent £151.18, which includes all my meat and cleaning products for the month so I'm quite hopefully.
