    I've been Money Tipped!
I've just made cheese and lentil pasta dish on the OS recipe thread, thanks to Honey for that. It was very good and I didn't need to buy anything in for it as I already had all the ingredients in the cupboard/fridge. I haven't spent anything today either, just general running costs for house, heat light and sound.

It's a pity that the DVLA/Post Office withdrew the Road Tax stamps, you used to be able to buy them for £5 a stamp to help with the cost of your Road Tax disc. Typical.

I've still got a card with about £30-£40 of stamps on it somewhere. Wonder if they're still valid or whether I could a refund or anything

Check out the DVLA website, I'm sure they said something about them having to be used by a certain time. Hope you can get them reimbursed.

  • Hey

Managed to get away with spending just £12.00 this week :D Using freezer stuff up including some frozen veg  been steaming it and doesnt taste too bad, but have only used cabbage/brocolli/mixed veg, peas and sweetcorn.

New massive freezer is coming tomorrow :D

Done my online shop for next week and used a £10 voucher off a £50 shop. Also, thought I would mention that they have an error in their frozen chicken prices and a 1.9kg frozen chicken has been priced at £1.00  so ordered 5...lol. I know its not free range or organic but for a £1 each-I dont really care..lol. Will be used in one way or another.

Including this and next weeks shop I will be half way through the month and would have only spent £67.00 and a full freezer and cupboards-hopefully the bulk of the rest of the month. Will just need fruit, milk and veg from Lidls and there fruit and veg are still half price.

Im really pleased with myself ;)

  • Far safer to open a savings account rather than stamps. Less likely to get lost or damaged. Even if you just set up say £10 a month-think of that at Xmas or when you need to fix the car! £10 per week better of cpourse. Do it by direct debit tho cos be fair-you just wont have time to go to the bank every week when you are so busy hunting for bargains. After a while of saving, you wont miss it and will more or less forget about it and there you go-rainy days are covered.

  • I set aside a week now and then where I only allow myself to spend £30. Now for 5 people its tough going but if you do this immediately after you have been paid-you feel rich for the rest of the month. Better to do it at the start rather than trying to make the last bit of money last at the end I think.

    Hi guys

So far so good, though I seemed to have forgotten last week lol, overspent by £5.12 when I went to check out the new somerfield that opened in the village centre. Not bad, but not somewhere Id do my weekly shop as they don't take vouchers off your shopping  or so the assistant claimed

So, I've been super-good this week and as long as I don't do anymore shopping I'll be practically bang on budget :j yay :) Finding the conversion to autumn food a bit of a struggle though, trying to think of new ideas that won't blow the budget.. or the diet!
