  • Hi

Im in abit of shock..lol. I have just bought a new huge freezer and thought i'd do an extra shop for the freezer from Tesco using a £10 voucher off a £50 shop. Anyway have my usual fortnightly shop from Asda coming Monday (£45 for the 3 of us), so all normal stuff in there with quite alot of freezer stuff that I normally get. They have cocked up on there 1.9kg chickens and have them priced at £1.00 so I bought 6

Anyway, have checked out from Tescos and have ordered tons, lamb joints x 4, chicken breasts x 2, minced lamb x 6 bags, lamb chops, sausages, 4 boxes of breaded fish, frozen mash x 2, sweetcorn, chips, fishcakes, 4 x kingsmill crumpets, 6 x kingsmill pancakes, 2 x kingsmill muffins, 8 x best of both bread, cubed lamb x 2, 3 x tuna, carrots, squash x 6, pears, dishclothes, also 8 Boddingtons some other bits but cant remember them all. All are on special and BOGOF etc and guide price inc delivery is £77.22...after my voucher and all the bogofs which total £33.77..means that all this shopping will cost only £43.45

So between Asda & Tesco this week my total cost will be about £88.00 with enough food to last us about 2-3months.....does this seem correct?? Im in total shock.

  • Sounds great Penny-Pincher - well done!!

Tesco delivery today. Total bill for this week was £57.62. My DH says we don't need to buy anything next week as cupboards are so stocked up, but we do run out of fresh stuff eg yogurts, cheese etc, due to kids taking packed lunches. Should easily be under/on budget though this month - only one more shop left!!:j

Current monthly total is £217.88, target £280.00.

Update cos I'm feeling quite chuffed!

I've had more expenditure this month with Mrs MATH at home in the day I'm catering for an extra lunch/day which when working she would buy out of her allowance. We've been bobbing between coast and mids so having to keep two larders stocked with basics and I had left the mids house stripped bare of any food cos we've been at the coast all summer. I've catered for 5yr DS birthday (very Ol'Style with sarnies and tri-coloured jelly_party_ ) which I had a seperate budget for but decided to try and do from my grocery challange money! Having said that I did not increase my budget:eek:

September budget £200.00 (all food, toileteries, household stuff for family of 5 and 2 cats)

    Are ya ready? Ta dah!

Spend to date £136.70 and only one shop left.

From October I will be starting the one item per week for crimbo out of grocery challange and see how it goes.

    .

I am in total awe!! Did you already have a good stock of stuff in, or is that all the basics too??!! Mine is a family of 5, too, and I just can't imagine getting by on that little (it would be fantastic, though!)

  • I've fallen off the bandwagon a bit recently-it's those darn summer holidays!!

Need to get sorted to save some money for Christmas and pay ourselves back for the new car we've just bought so will join in properly next month.

    Sptember's budget was £250.00

Spend so far with ten days to go £187.99 but freezer is getting very bare and a friend is coming to stay this weekend. I'll let you know if I've been good at the end of the month

Maybe I should of done the store cupboard challenge first, because we had quite a lot of food in before we started.

Left with £50 but need to do a big shop as the cupboards and fridge are bare! Hopefully that should see me through to the end of the month and I will be roughly on target. Hope to try and shave a bit off here and there over the next few months. :o

I've also had a couple of meals out that I haven't counted in to the grocery spends and these were special occasions and, hopefully, covered by my PIN money. :)

£6 left till the end of the month! Have run out of milk and bread as well. :o
