Ideas on how to get a Liverpool hotel cheaper?

Hiya

My friend and I want to have a night out in Liverpool on Sat 31st May but nearly everywhere is booked up. The places that aren't are over our budget, but is there a way to get vouchers/discounts for money off?

We can only stay 1 night so Tesco clubcard deals are out.

Thanks
Abi

Really we don't want to spend more than £60 in total on a twin/double room.

The problem with Liverpool this year is that they are the European city of culture - meaning rip off time for hotel visitors.

    Have you tried Laterooms.com and Alpharooms.com ?

Thanks for the links guys. I have been checking laterooms but nothing I'd go for on there, do they update it if things get cancelled?

Will check the other sites now.

  • Your problem is that paul McCartney is playing Anfield the next day so visitors from around the world will be descending on masse and so the hotels have adjusted their prices accordingly. Believe me, I used to work in the hotel industry and if you quote a price to one person and they won't pay it the next person will! For big events like these the rates went up and up closer to the event and we blocked out these dates from voucher schemes discounts etc. have you tried the smaller B&Bs?
  • Hi, try here: http://www.throstlesnesthotel.co.uk/about.htm 5 min walk to city centre and all attractions - really nice rooms - very clean - owners kevin & karen who will look after you - great brekky - probably just over your budget but give them a call and they may do a deal as I got a reduction on the published price - hope this helps.

    No anger from liverpudlians please.

Do be extra careful if you are unfamiliar with this city; there are beggars, pedlars and street musicians who may seem colourful but are actually part of organised gangs of pickpockets and muggers.

The once famous friendliness of the city appears to have been hijacked by criminals. Liverpool still has a major drugs and street crime problem everywhere so you must be extra vigilant of your belongings and wallets.

Obvious one but dont be seen using a map or A-Z, it targets you as a victim right away.

Merseyside police are very stretched at the best of times but the McCartney show will bring the robbers out in droves.

There is very sound advice on the Merseyside Police Website on protecting yourself in public from street criminals.

    Otherwise, enjoy your holiday.
:o Keep trying.........................what else is there to do? :o

Why do you think you can post that and say "no anger from liverpudlians please?"
What you said was a load of rubbish. The city has problems but no more or less than anywhere else in the world. I've never had any trouble with beggars, or any of these other "organised gangs."

Totally agree with you on this one. Every city in the world has its problems. i too have never had any problems with beggers or "organised gangs". Maybe everyone in the world should stay at home in their protected bubble!!!!!!
