What cheese do you buy?

I buy mostly half-fat mature cheddar cheese - since I eat a bit almost every day it would be too expensive calorie-wise to buy the (cheaper) full-fat version.
Mild full-fat cheddar is just a waste of space imo.
Also buy: half-fat mozzarella, half-fat soft cheese, ricotta, feta, sometimes brie, blue or goats, especially when I can find lower fat versions.0 -
The only light cheese I like is a Cathedral one in a blue pack. Otherwise it's Red Leicester, Orkney or Isle of Mull, depending what's on offer." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I've just come back from holiday on the Dorset coast and for a souvenir for me and present for my mother and daughter I got some of the local Blue Vinny cheese. It's like a creamy Stilton, and was actually "extinct" until a local cheesemaker rediscovered the recipe.
Under normal circumstances, I "ring the changes" of the ASDA regional cheeses, which are actually slightly cheaper than the basic English, Irish and Scottish Cheddars. For my work sandwiches, I use the ready sliced stuff. They're about the same price as a block, and you are limited with the number of slices so you can't nibble!
As above, keep your eyes open and wits about you for any special offers - but again you do have to keep your consumption level: buying twice as much for slightly more money and then guzzling it twice as fast doesn't work out.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Cathereral City - all varieties today in Asda 3 250grm packs for £4It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0

We like seriously strong, but only when it's on offer.
I like crumbly cheese and don't tend to like the value packs because to me they seem to plasticy in texture.0 -
I said that I buy value mature cheddar... I do buy other stuff as well. Try to have one 'nice' cheese for if dh wants some for lunch at the weekend or he wants cheese and crackers at night. In addition, always have a lump of parmesan, I reallly like costco, but don't go there specially. Dairylea cheese slices for burgers, I sometimes get sliced emmental, smoked cheese with ham etc from Lidl.[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. I rave about Cathedral Light to anyone who'll listen! Its the only lower fat cheese I've ever had that actually tastes like cheese. I always stock up when its on offer.0

Can you freeze cheese? I never new this! DD always complains that I buy bigger blocks (usually better value) because then she can't resist eating cheese on everything until it's used up.
It would be great if I could 'hide' some of it in the freezer.some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it0 -
I will buy whatever premium mature cheddar is on offer.
But I do like Sainsburys Taste the difference, mull of Kintyre (or any of the TTD ones really).0
