I used to buy smartprice/value cheese without even thinking about it, just assumed it was the cheapest, then I started shopping by £ per KG and it turned out it wasnt the cheapest. I just do a quick check of £ per KG and decide which cheese that way. Usually the shops own is cheaper than smartprice/value/basics.

DH and I will eat any cheese that tastes good. With cheddar, we usually just get the value mature one from wherever we're shopping. Haven't had a problem so far.

I buy mature cheddar from Lidl/wherever usually for cooking and the cheese addiction of DP (swear he's part mouse!) when the good stuffs gone that's what he has. Cracker cheese, salad cheese etc, sorry I'm a cheese snob :o I usually buy a nice selection from the farm shop or somewhere like http://www.churchmousecheeses.com/index.php?mod=category&id_ctg=27 or http://www.thefinestfoods.co.uk/shop/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=1 I'm not keen on blue cheeses, churchmouse does some lovely unpasteurised cheese (think that's the page the link is for) I know it's expensive but so nice you don't need as much for a proper cheese fix, nomnomnom....
One day I might be more organised...........

I Started out with nothing.....still have most of it left:o
  • I only buy whatever is on Special, I never buy if the pack says ,,,,,coloured ......cheddar

TBH I grudge paying full price for cheese now, to me cheese is turning into a luxury item, a decent cheese is so expensive
