We have a really old toasted sandwich maker that I have to tie together with string, but it still makes really good sangs. One of our faves is hot dogs - spread the bread with tomato sauce and mustard and then wrap it around a hot dog sausage (you could use a veggie one) and then toast it. In the manual it said to put marg on the other side of the bread to stop it sticking to the toaster but I have never bothered with this and they always come out fine.
My brother's fave sang is to put tins of ready made chiili, stews etc in as a filling. He takes these to work and eats them cold! Strange boy.

Hubby grates the cheese. Crusts on for definite - although like Jay-Jay says they do go hard, but my dog usually eats them - gives him something to look forward to when he's sitting there watching us eat them :)

Ooo Hubby just reminded me of his fave one - cubed cooked sausage, crispy pieces of bacon, scrambled egg (made with eggs and dairylea) and hp sauce.....

When I was younger, mum used to put apple pie filling and custard in them for dessert, as well as cherry pie filling, sliced apple and blackberries...... she just loves her fruit sandwiches :)

  • You can buy tins of creamed mushrooms out of your local supermarket. This is really yummy in a toasted sarnie. PF

And you don't just have to stick to bread.

Puff pastry (that you buy in supermarket) works as well as bread.

And you can have some fun with batter too.

Forget the bread and just put scrambled egg/omlette direct in to the machine.

A little bit more cleaning with these, but very tasty!
