My experiences of using a toasted sandwich maker are that you can't get enough filling ON the bread so that when the lid comes down it doesn't all squidge out the edges AND so that when it's cooked the toastie isn't just one big open space with a small smearing of cheese.
Are there techniques to getting the most filling in?
Edit: I should mention, this is in the sort that cuts them into 2 triangles. Not sure if they all do, so I thought it worth a mention0 -
You know the Heinz baked beans/sausage tins many of you mention: do the sausages taste reasonably OK. I've never tried the beans/sausages combination. Thanks all.

They dont taste like proper sausages, but they have a certain likability which lots of people seem to like !!
I dont like any of the other tinned meals ,try to eat healthily but have a certain penchant for these !Moneysaving? - I cant stop spending because of this site!0 -

You can toast a sandwich in a frying pan. A non-stick works best. Make your sandwich and put it in the pan, when the bottom side is brown turn it over and cook until the other side is brown.
I bet that produces a better (more filled) sandwich.
And, without buying a sandwich maker it's more MSE.
And, it sounds easier to clean/put away than a sandwich maker.
Plus, with one less item in the kitchen (the sandwich maker), it means less clutter.
I'm going to thank you for this one!0 -

or instead of p*issing about with a frying pan you could use a bit of common and stick it under the grill..
oh and shouldn't it be 'more MS' than more 'MSE'. MSE is Money Saving Expert so not buying a sandwich maker is more Money Saving.0 -
I noticed that a couple of people mentioned cheese and pineapple - my own personal favourite is cheese and marmalade - but be VERY CAREFUL - the maramalade is 'burny hot'!0

picky!
MS is one thing, but at a certain point you must elevate to being a MS-E
I think many here qualify for "E" status.0
