earlier i ran a couple of tests, ranging from 6781kbs to 3000kbs from my 7150 profile, i then got (as reported by firefox) 730-760kbs downloading the office 2007 compatability pack, do not ever trust 1 run of 1 speedtest as accurate, or even close.
O2 may be capping his speeds, but unlikely given the feedback O2 are receiving, he'd be the first!

Looks like 02 are capping your speeds for sure, if your router says 5.6mb but the speed test says just over 2.3mb then are restricting your service

I didn't really know what to select so i chose maidenhead ...

But O2 did say that i shouldn't do those sort of tests and that i should look at my router stats..

download this file, only 25 meg, and you don't need to complete the ownload if you don't want, report the speed its downloading at (should peak out after a few seconds)

Not necessarily a speed test can be disrupted by any other internet activity on your pc,

woody123; the ping time is also high, have you done a scan with anti virus+ anti spyware? can account for slow web connections.

I've at long last received my Mac code from AOL, I rang them after 7 days and was told they had nor record and I would have to wait up to 5 working days again. Now at last I can get shot of them :j I have no idea what the above reading means, I'm assuming it's pretty bad

That's not too bad, I asume your on the upto8Mb service and live about a 3/4 mile from the exchange. Well done in getting the MAC from alo, took me 10 mins for the guy to say he'll send it, I don't know whether he was being polite trying to help me or was annoying all the time!

That's looking a lot healthier than mine, apparently I only get just over half a meg at the moment. It will be interesting to see the difference when I go to 02.

Well I have to say,I used to get about 2 meg from F2S,but it turned out to be my fault for not having a 10m ethernet cable in.Once I'd swapped it from the standard cable,my speed shot up dramatically to what it is now,and had F2S have told me this,I might have still been with them, but when I switched to 02,and in the beginning had the same slow speed, they went through a process of elimination to find out why it was slow.

When we established what the problem was, voila, instant jump in speed, and even if it had have been found by F2S,I would still have moved due to the price and the cost of phoning them alone.

    Ken.

That's interesting, I'm pretty sure the cabling etc.. is fine as have 2 IT guys here who have tried everything possible to up the speed. I agree about the price though, it was too good to refuse :j
