Today Thu, it's been off again, so what the devil!. I'd still like to know how Dave knows about BT.
The sequence I get is that on my safecom router, the power & usb lights are on, the adsl flashes, only when that is constant and the data flickers do I know I'll be OK.
Unfortunately we've had a crackly phone line since last night, and am going to replace the phone today. BT said my line is clear, but what a coincidence. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Do you mean how does he know it's a BT problem? Go to e7even home page, click on 'Status', then click on 'ADSL broadband network' - this shows the open support ticket.
Quote:
BT and E7even engineers are currently investigating the fault and further updates will become available as soon as possible
Description:
There is a fault on the central BT broadband network. The service stopped working at 12:30 am this morning and we are currently working with BT engineers to resolve the issue.
Symptoms of fault:
Unable to connect, BT Wholesale error page appearing, Unable to browse web pages.0 -
It seems weird that if there was a problem with the BT Broadband network, no other people are complaining about loss of service, only E7Even customers. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

We'll have to see what the statement says, see if it hangs together... I suppose it could be the BT equipment at their end.
Incidentally, I did raise a support ticket with them regarding this matter and was really very impressed to receive a pertinent response to my enquiry from a human being within 10 minutes, despite the fact that they would be obviously very busy. In my experience, their CS cannot be faulted.
Hope there's some compensation again

Islandman, sorry I didn't reply to your query as to how I knew about the BT problem, I was away.
As paul-h said, it was on the status page of e7 yesterday, I do have an alternative to connect if adsl goes down, so that's how I found the info.
The latest news from an e7 rep who contributes to the ADSLguide e7 forum is as follows
"The fault was with the BT central pipe that we have. It is specific to E7even but a BT pipe and therefore we can't fix it, BT have to."
I gather they will be emailing all customers in due course, I think it's just been one of those things that happen from time to time.

I appreciate that thanks. It has been a hit and miss affair getting on line.
Something which hasn't helped is that suddenly last evening, our landline phones crackeled like hell. We've tried several compbinations with no success. BT say our line is OK so will send an engineer on Tuesday and have diverted all landline calls to myself, via my mobile at no extra charge to the caller. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Make a new connection in Dial Up Networking, name it whatever you want, put your E7 username and password in and use the following number
0845 353 0070
This is the number E7 advise on their website, charged at local call rate, or you could use anyone of a number of PAYG Dial Up's available on the Web.
Hope this helps.
Dave
Should have also advised you that you will have to connect via your computer dial up modem, not your ADSL.
