I called into the local branch on Friday afternoon and the account was opened with 2 transfers - 1 from my Halifax ISA and the other from my A+L ISA.

The Lloyds person who set it up had to phone A+L to find out the sort code of their ISA for the transfer form, and the A+L person told them I had to contact A+L to get A+L to do the transfer! I told the Llyods person that I didn't think that was right but she seemed happy to accept A+L's story.

So she could only fill in the transfer forms for the Halifax ISA (which meant the opening balance would be less than 9000).

When I got home I phoned A+L and gave them the story - and just as I expected they told me that the previous A+L person was incorrect and that Lloyds had to initiate the transfer.

So then I had to phone 3 Lloyds phone numbers before I spoke to someone who said they would send out some transfer forms for me to fill in for the A+L ISA. So hopefully I won't lose much in interest before the A+L ISA transfers and bumps the balance to over £9000

What a palaver. You'd have thought that they would have transferred enough ISAs to understand how this works. I was right all along and I've only done 1 transfer before.

newbie (former lurker) here- hello everyone :cheesy:

quite worried as bf recently transferred-in to lloyds-tsb (on my advice- gulp!).

the rate was still 6.5% when he went to the branch and signed the paperwork, but if the transferring money hasn't made it to the account (i understand transfers can take looong) before the rate dropped does that mean he'll only get 5% instead of 6.5%?

    oh dear...

I signed up with Lloyds in March and am also waiting for the money to be transferred into the new ISA account and expect that the rate will still be 6.5% as that is what I signed upto - if it is not I will be asking some serious questions of Lloyds!!
    Keep the Faith:cool:

I'd have assumed it will be at the rate when it was opened despite no money being in it. If not I'll bloody well scream after all the faffing about I've done.
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!

    whu and suelees1,

    fingers crossed, then...!

if the bf only gets the 5% i'll be very unhappy because, with the aid of mse, i have recently appointed myself argentum heights' resident money adviser (money matters bossyboots in chief, to use my full title). a bungle like that could severely damage my good reputation :rotfl:

See HERE, scroll down to see those fixed & variable rate ISAs which accept inward transfers.

Check current rates, as a number of rates are changing/have changed recently.
