Hi I went to see Wall E on saturday with my dd (8) also with my friend and her two children 2 1/2 and one is 6, and thought the first part was very slow, however did liven up towards the end. A good film, but slightly disappointed.
My daughter would give it a 7 and so would I.
My friends little ones, were a little bored towards the end, as it was quite a long film.0 -
I went to see WALL-E yesterday in Oxford. Surprisingly good despite there being no dialogue for the first half an hour.
Anyway my hubby had an interesting chat with one of the staff about the whole PR exercise. Don’t think your email confirmations are binned – in fact they are sent to head office.
Basically the film companies pay the cinema chains to put on the promotional viewings for free. We all go along with our freebie tickets and still spend on getting goodies. We like the film. We tell all friends and family to go see = More bums on seats = more money for the cinema/film co. It’s a win/win situation.0 -
It was easy to watch, not bad but not one that I would go and see again or get on DVD.They say that football is a religion, if this is true I worship at the Exacta Stadium, Chester0

I must admit I might have been more tempted to improve the mark had Disney not insisted on using it as a vehicle to ram the "eco" message down your throat!
You're taking the film too seriously.
Some commentators gave opinons on the eco messages they thought were intended and Andrew Stanton one of the Wall-E writers gave the following comment in reply:-
Andrew Stanton commented on the reaction to the film by denying any specific agenda beyond telling the story about the last robot on Earth. He said that people were making connections that he "never saw coming", and that the circumstances of humanity's abandoning the Earth arose merely as a way of telling the story, "reverse-engineered" from the initial concept of using refuse as both a visual shorthand that would be easy for children to understand, and as a way of depicting the title character as holding a low-status, menial job.

Back from Wildchild at Wandsworth with a very poor turn-out indeed.
The film was fairly predictable - bad girl makes good and discovers her true self. Typical stereo-typing of what americans think english boarding schools are like!!! A modern day Malory Towers.......Enid Blyton would be turning in her grave though at some of the slang and at least one particular hand gesture!
Young teenage girls will love it though - my daughter did! - especially if they are fans of programmes like Unfabulous, Zoey 101 etc. Mine has already earmarked it for DVD once released. This will probably be a holiday hit for the 10-15 year olds.
Not outstanding but fairly watchable and there were just enough lol moments to mean it was worth seeing.
My daughter obviously rated it higher than me so probably averages out at 7/10.:j Member Number 18 of the "100 free films in London in 2010" club:hello:0 -
I disagree Lakeuk...
I mean, the message of all Disney films (this included) is "Be Yourself"
In addition to that they've shoved in the eco-message that, for what's meant to be an enjoyable film, is a very inconvenient truth (see what I did there!)
Brilliant as they are, Pixar have a history also of basically lying...
I'm still mad at Brad Bird for his responses to questions after the Incredibles was released...
Anyway: fairly forced 'message', lying to press (again) and also I don't like your statement "You're taking the film too seriously". That is categorically impossible. Cumulate all the working hours that go into the making of a film and you'd be shocked. Look at the people who die in the making of films. And yet you are basically saying they died for nothing. On the flipside we should not ignore flaws, because "it's just a film". Wall-E is perceived by many as a work of art and so should be judged by those standards.Haikus are easy
