    Moral turpitude???? :rotfl:

Why can't they just write in plain english? or as my american friend and I call it 'Yanklish':rotfl:

    Edited to add http://216.239.59.132/search?q=cache:JM3ROFc0GhIJ:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_turpitude+moral+turpitude&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=uk

Great link Blackpool Saver, thanks for that. I travel to the States frequently but have never been able to get my head round moral turpitude. Its interesting to see that adultery was classed as moral turpitude in the past, but firearms violations never have been
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I always thought English law was pretty daft, this is so much better. I'm sure it shouldn't be funny but I found it so in a warped way:
Steal an apple and get arrested and you can't go
Break out of jail having been arrested for drink driving whilst carrying a concealed weapon and you're welcome!
  • If anyone still has the green card left in their passport here's a link that explains what to do

    http://www.usembassy.org.uk/dhs/cbp/i94.html

I stumbled across it once and have kept it just it case it ever happens to me. Hope it helps someone.

That's a very important point Jasper. I flew back to America not realising the green slip was still in mine. It took hours to get processed through. Thankfully we still had the stubs of our return flight in our wallet. It is not a nice situation to be in and well worth not being dragged over the coals over. Thanks for the link, I check my passport very carefully every time now to make sure I have no green slips!

  • The obvious reason that you can only apply through the web is so that they can comb through and vet the contents and contacts on your computer - the price to pay for the privilege of visiting the good ole US of A.

I applied this August the first day it became available, hit a snag straight away as my passport had been renewed with 4 months till expiry as allowed so was valid for over 10 years and their system was not programmed for this. Suspect it would affect quite a few others. I contacted the Dept of Homeland Security by email with very little hope of a result but was amazed to receive a reply 10 days later, thanking me for informing them of this fact and saying they had now amended the application program. RESULT!!!!!
Good luck to all who enter competitions.

IMHO I would make a new application, rather than try to "argue" (something you don't do with Immigration staff in the U.S.A.) at the airport. I don't think you can actually update the passport number, but the site does state:

What should I do if the information on my passport has changed?

If you obtain a new passport or there is a change to your passport information, you must apply for a new travel authorization.

It's up to you of course, but I would make a new application with the correct details.
yeah, i saw this as well and have been mulling it over and although the passport itself has not changed there is a change in information so I will try the change. I will also keep the orginal incorrect form JIC
Currently 4 me its Rogers Contract cell phone, REBTEL.COM is the best mobile making and receiving calls to/from UK and Canada:beer:
  • The real nastiness of the online only application is that it discriminates against poorer people as they are less likely to have easy internet access.

It will also act as a barrier to people who do not read and write (US) English fluently, so prejudices against less educated foreigners.

I suspect that this is an attempt at discrimination against people from developing countries, where only a very small percentage of people have access to the internet and have English as either a first or second language.
