Does it make it worse that he was carrying a firearm whilst in possession of drugs, IMO yes.

Well he hadn't had the drugs on him when he got caught with the gun they raided his house and found it, they were looking for more guns but he had only the one.

    Does that make any difference?

I'm pretty sure it was less than 30 grams it was for his own personal use. I will ask him later as he works nights so we're like ships that pass :)

I'm so annoyed at him right now

I know, I was actually more concerned about the Gun thing until last night but is 3 grams really something that they could refuse him on its not like it was a couple of ounces, I know it's still a serious offence I've never done drugs myself but I'm sure more serious things have been let go? Would he still need a interview in London?

If he called the police and asked about his record and it is spent would that be ok?

Just a thought though if it was only 3 grams sure enough that would be classed as personal use? He hasn't done anything like that for 3 years now

Dontdoit your a clever clogs my love! That link that you posted up I asked a immigration lawyer about last night that does apply to him although they do know of recently that drug offenders of class a drugs have been knocked back BUT cannabis is a class C.

I won't get too excited about this though

So thankyou so much for your help

We have just returned from the USA. both East and West coast. No-one was interested in the ESTA and we still had to fill in forms. It does say on it you don't have to carry it so perhaps they know electronically that you have it when they swipe your passport. it does last 3 years and you do get immediate acceptance online.

Yes it flags up on their screen when they swipe your passport as our Immigation Officer at LAX told us.

The ESTA is valid for TWO years, not 3 as stated.
