Have just treated both DDs and am going into town to get some more for myself as there was nowhere near enough in a 4 person dose for 3 of us DD1 had two lots on her own. So for now they are or should be dead. What do i do next buy a nitty gritty and wet comb their hair for the rest of their lives.
Any more advice appreciated.Loving the dtd thread. x0 -
Not sure what you've used arthur dent, but as mentioned I used 2 different solutions 1 lyclear, can't remember other. Worked on ds but not dd
. Not had problems since buying nitty gritty. Once a week I do kids hair with an ordinary conditioner (tea-tree if poss) and nitty gritty comb. I also do an extra combing if either come home with a 'creature letter'. Not every day but every so often I spray their heads with a repellant spray. I still have some left of the nitty gritty stuff, but I have bought cheaper repellant sprays, (tea tree oil ones), either superdrug or savers.

We have used. both of the prescription pesticide based lotions, full marks, electric nit comb, metal nit comb, plastic nit comb, lyclear spray and orange gooey stuff, hedrin, tea tree shampoo, another one that was an overnighter but I can't remember the name of, etc,.............
I have used the yucky full marks grease on myself now so hopefully if I repeat when we get back off holiday, all will be ok.Loving the dtd thread. x0 -
Hi all, horrible subject but any advice greatly appreciated. My 2 girls were meant to be getting thier hair cut today, both excited obv, anyway, the hairdresser, luckily shes my friend, couldnt do it as they had nit egg carcasses in thier hair, there were no live nits and no eggs, theyve been clear for a long time. I was told by the health visitor that you cant get rid of the carcasses, you have to wait for them to grow out. What can i do, i comb through thier hair every time its washed but we cant get rid of the damn things, shes coming back next week and will cut thier hair if clear of the carcasses. Obv they so want thier hair cut, they had printed pictures of the styles they wanted and everything bless em. Does anyone know of a comb that will get rid of the carcasses, we currently use the two layered metal one but it wont get rid of them, any help would be really appreciated, sorry to go on one on such a horrible subject but they were really upset, you know what its like when you get so excited about having your hair cut, also my friend who was going to cut it mentioned she felt like the wicked witch of the west, i appreciate her concerns and obv want to sort it for them all,. Please help
, again i stress thier is no live eggs or nits, its the blooming carcasses. Thanks in advance xxx

bless 'em - at least they get to have their hair cut 'soon' rather than not at all!:happyhear0 -
Hiya
Poor wee things:( But i dont understand why carcasses are stopping the hairdresser from cutting their hair? Would understand if she didnt want to cut it if they were crawling with live nits. But surely this is the occupational 'norm' for hairdressers
I use the nitty gritty comb on dd - and it gets absolutely everything out, give it a go - if not change hairdressers!!

I think this is where the term "Nit picking" comes from...it is possible to pick these nits out of hair...good luck!!!

try using the comb from post #2 (also available from Boots for about a tenner) with a mixture of 50% spirit vinegar (very cheap from Tesco or Sainsburys, about 15p per bottle) and warm water. This will dissolve the "glue" from the nit husks and allow them to be removed pretty easily.
Though there is no health reason why a hairdresser cannot cut the hair if there were just husks in the hair. She must have just been feeling lazy, ask any health visitor, nurse or doctor.====0
