I never had nits as a child. We had the nit nurse then.
Yeah - I remember them and the children with the shaved heads that smelled of parafin
However, I've also been that Mum spending hours trying to get rid of lice that my children constantly pick up. (It's one of the reasons I get so irritated with all the claims about tea tree oil, nitty gritty combs, and so on - I've tried them all and the only thing that works is every child having their head checked regularly).
Bring back the nit nurse, but allow her to shave the parents' heads and cover them with parafin ... that'll sort this out.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
Debt free success date: 14.8.2006 :j0 -
the best thing i found is to comb comb comb, i use watered down conditioner in a spray bottle with a nitty gritty comb my daughter has very fine long hair i find it brilliant. i also found this petition to bring back the nit nurse to schools hope its okay to post here http://petitionthem.com/default.asp?sect=detail&pet=3562
you spend the first years of your childs life encouraging them to walk and talk and then spend the next 15 years telling them to sit down and shut up!

White vinegar is great stuff the nits hate it.Wash your hair as normal use the white vinegar on final rinse .It doesnt smell once it is dry although pyschologically you will think you stink like the chippy!
My daughter has thick hair and it has always been a problem as it is curly and tangles as well we have tried every prep on the go and vinegar is the best for price and effectiveness.Gives a great shine too.0 -
Ever heared of a nitty gritty comb. Its a metal toothed comb with metal spirals around the teeth which takes the eggs off the hair. Have found it great and getting rid of everything in the hair and the use vinegar as a preventative. You can get them from ebay - sold by the manufacturer but have spotted they are now in boots too.0
