Oh, great, thanks hun - will update then. Although the figures are 4 weekly, I've put them down as monthly, because that makes it easier for budgetting purposes, and once a year I will get 2 lots, which will be a nice surprise.

Oh, thanks very much Wol, that's really kind. I have done a letter, which I need to alter in view of the last conversation I had with them, but if you wouldn't mind taking a look, that would be great. I'll warn you, it's rather long though....as you probably know, my (unintentional) philosophy is 'why use 1 word when 47 will do'. :o

    Hey Hun

That's what we're here for. It would be my pleasure.

I will PM you my email address.

Thanks IDA - if we are awarded DLA, then I think we will get slightly more tax credits, but at the moment we don't know if we will get the DLA or not. I hope we will, not for our sakes, but because if he is awarded it now, it will pave the way for him getting it as he gets older and the differences between him and his friends become more noticeable.

It's quite a bit more Snags, we were amazed how much ours went up by, will check and let you know. (It's £195 every four weeks)

DLA is a positive thing hun, it won't be awarded past his 16th birthday anyway so you can cross that bridge later.

DLA very rarely is for a child - even an "indefinite" claim will be reviewed around 16/17 and that's usually only for very severe, permanent disorders, such down's syndrome etc.
A friend of mine, her sister is severely disabled, in a wheelchair etc. and her DLA was stopped at 17 and had to be reclaimed independently (her claiming for herself), then the decision makers decide if the child isn't mentally able to claim as an adult and they reinstate it (think it's called "by proxy").

Asperger's is considered a "mild" disability in childhood, and how it'll affect a young adult / adult can't be determined - some people get a lot better (almost grow out of it), others need a lot of help as adults. So they reassess it a lot between 16 - mid 20s before deciding which level of care is needed longer term.

    Hope that makes sense
