Help!! I'm A Thickie, But If I Buy A Skype Phone Can I Use It On Voipstunt, Voipcheap Or Any Other Voip Provider?
Are These Phones Locked Or Can They Be Used For Any Network?
Can Anyone Suggest A Phone That Can Be Used On Voipstunt Please?
    Thank You In Anticipation!

  • Post a link to the phone your interested in :) Usually Skype is just the brand name but it will work for whatever! It really depends on the phone as netgear have one thats customised for Skype.

Basically USB phones will plug into the USB port on your PC And act as a microphone and speaker. This would then be configured in the program (voipstunt) and the phone will work :) The only reason skype phones may not work for voipstunt is due to other buttons that are customised for use with skype software =)

In my final year of secondary school but hopefully off to Bath Uni in September, so should I register with Sipgate under my current location or as Bath?

Also, and I'm sure this is a painfully silly question, but - incoming calls will only work when my laptop is on, right? What would happen if someone calls when it isn't?

Register as Bath yes for a Bath area code.. or get a local rate 0870 one.. really up to you i suppose :)

You get free voicemail with your sipgate account. If your account isn't online, then if someone calls it will auto go to your voicemail. This can be checked from any phone in the UK, and the voice messages also get emailed to you too to be played in .wma format (i think its that format)

    :)

That is a supremely clever system, I think I'm a VoIP convert!

Thanks for the info MK, will get right on setting up with Sipgate.
Oh, one more question - if I set up as a Bath area code, then don't actually get into Bath, would I be able to change the number or re-register on the same computer?

    just re-register for another :)

depends if you want friends at home to pay local rate to call you, or new friends at Uni
