I'm not sure :rotfl: Thing is she sets very high goals and aspirations for herself and does do the super-human thing.... she's a lot of people willing her to meet them and sets herself for these targets and I think a lot of the advice is *trying* to get her there as fast as possible and avoid all the mistakes and potholes everyone else has made....
There has to be a point to it all and to see a point yourself otherwise it's just grind, unless you can see a reason or have a stronger overriding urge to do things differently yourself no amount of 'advice' or constructive criticism will change people, and mistakes seem to be the best way to learn... throwing in factors to consider that Sarah might not have thought of or different budgetting techniques other people find useful might very well be useful or influence her priorities but people do fundamentally have different priorities at different points of their lives....
The telly debt would really annoy *me* but it's not stopping *them* doing the things they want at the moment, I suspect it will start to grate when another toy comes along and that one not paid off will start to niggle or a few years down the line Ste may find they are saving for a house deposit regardless of the huge variety of games consoles available on the market... :rotfl:0 -
well, speaking as someone who has also lost her mum (and whose mum loved orchids, so they remind me of her too) some things are far more psychologically important than bills and gadgets. This isn't another console or bass, it's something that sar feels she wants to reward herself for the money she has raised for cancer charities which will be a lifelong memorial.
This is being paid cash, and yes, the credit card bill won't be cleared for another x amount of weeks. But their debt is under control and they are aware that it is there, needing to be dealt with. So, in this case I really don't see what the problem is.:A

It's also about choice and knowledge, when it was reaching the stage of being unable to physically spend on the CC, CCJs etc there wasn't any choice; at the moment Sarah's choosing her debt/spending priorities with the full knowledge of the consequences/non-consequences and it isn't stopping her doing what she wants to do and she isn't trailing around the streets unable to do anything worrying about being 13p short for milk which was the situation once or twice... they sound happy and on a reasonably even keel and if there are a few more bumps I'm sure they'll be useful for deciding what they want to choose to do next...0 -

I suppose I just don't call over £2000 of new debt in under 6 months to be debt under control.
First there were two expensive contract mobile phones acquired because they were good deals when you took into account the offers. Except that they weren't, the cost of the contract was probably slightly more than the sum of getting the stuff separately. But it was ok because it was all budgeted for.
Then there was a 0% TV which would be paid off long before the 0% offer ended, except that now that's looking doubtful and there's consideration of moving it to another 0% offer.
Then there was one credit card, and now there are two and there isn't really a plan to pay them off.
At the moment with £250 to spare every month and £2200 of debt, you're looking at 9 months to pay it all off, and you've acquired all the debt since Christmas.
You deserve a new tattoo, you've earned a new tattoo, but right now you can't afford a new tattoo.0
