I thought I'd share this discovery, especially in the current weather.
I recently picked up a tube of Inecto Pure Cocunut Oil intensely moisturising hand and nail cream for 99p in TJ Hughes, Glasgow.
I thought it would be pretty rubbish and probably really greasy, but I was pleasantly surprised. It absorbs quickly, and leaves your hands instantly soft. It has a nice light coconut smell too. I actually think it's almost as good as the £3 Garnier Cocoon stuff which was my favourite before.
You could probably pick this up in most places that sell cheap cosmetics. TJ Hughes, Watt Brothers, Semi-Chem, Bodycare etc.
This is it here
the leg & body scrub and body lotion from that range is fab too

I hope you dont mind me adding to this list.
I have recently discovered the aldi (or was it lidl, I always get mixed up!) Lacura serums, about £3.50, but they are WONDERFUL!!!!!!
For removing my makeup I use baby oil, cotton wool and then remove the oil and give my face a general clean with face wipes (not fussy about brand, the cheapest will do!).
Hair products, my hair agrees with Vo5, tresemme, herbal essences, so that's good. Tried Kerastase and all the 'expensive' brands, but they just dont work as well.
And Garnier BodyTonic Firming Moisturiser - especially when 50% off for £2.99 - love it.
Carmex lip balm
I do use St Tropez fake tan, and a Redken hair mask ocasionally, however, I get them off ebay and they last for 6 months at a time. My housemates all use clinique/clarins and other 'top brands' - but I just dont see the need, I am infact the '!!!!!' of the house, haha!
Oh Poundland were also selling 'Vital Radiance' (Revlon) products for yes a £1, and they are great products and obviously so cheap!
Not high maintenance at all:rolleyes:

Poundland - or at least the Ealing branch - is selling Herbal Essences dye in red and blonde shades just now. Excellent for me as I find only a few brands are good for me, and am very wary of off-brand hairdyes!0

I wanted some sort of concealer-thingy to go under my eyes to hide dark circles, I've been using my normal concealer but you have to lather it on to start to cover them. I read that you're supposed to use a pink-y concealer to hide dark circles, as opposed to a yellow-y concealer to hide redness, but the one they picked out was Bobbi Brown, and was quite expensive. Anyone know of a cheaper pink-based one?
TIA
I use Maybelline's liquid mineral concealer (comes in a clear glass tube with a doe's foot applicator) - cost me £3.something in Superdrug, it works pretty well for me for under eye shadows.0 -

A miracle for dry, damaged hair (so called straw). Pour several drops in your palms and massage into your scalp and hair a couple of hours before washing your hair. Don't worry, it washes off really easily, it is the lightest oil, not heavy at all. This will work for dry, flaky scalp as well. Just massage into your scalp with the tips of your fingers, and the flakes just dislodge like a dream. Wash your hair as usual and after the hair is so lovely, shiny and healthy looking and scalp moisturized and clean.......

I've heard of this but where can u buy it?"fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
I know this thread is about cheaper options but just thought I'd share that I've started to use Maybelline Dream Mousse concealer, they recommend to use a pinky shade like you say, their Rose Beige is perfect, followed by a lighter shade. It really does work well. However, I don't think they are very cheap...
Well, it's a lot cheaper than Bobbi Brown at £15 a pop, so I think it is a cheaper alternative, thanks!0 -
having tried allsorts of expensive oils for my very dry winter skin
i bought some bio oil on the reccomendation of a friend its around £8 small bottle and better by far than the designer face oils i have used in the past also use it as a base for aldi hand cream and its great on dry heels
