My idea is for anyone who loves the Eve Lom cleanser which is very expensive. Lush do a great one called Ultrabland. It's all natural ingredients, you massage it into your skin and the makeup just melts off. Then you use a washcloth wrung out in hot water. Ultrabland is only about £5 - very different to £39 for Eve Lom.

I'd recommend Ultrabland highly for normal to dry skin. Your skin feels peachy and soft afterwards.
Thank you Janeyboo, I'm definitely going to try this- I've been looking for a good cheap hot cloth cleanser for a while now. I've tried the Tesco BNatural one which my skin reacted badly to, I was going to try Anne French but noticed it contains liquid paraffin which I try to avoid, and at the moment I'm using Simple cream cleanser which, though it doesn't contain paraffin, is a bit drying on my skin and has a quite runny texture.

I've just looked at this product on the Lush website and it doesn't contain any petroleum-based products, and though it's more expensive than Tesco or Simple it's cheaper than Liz Earle so definitely worth a go.

Edit: just checked the price of Liz Earle C&P which is £10.75 for 100ml, but the Lush one is measured in grams- £8.95 for 100g- so it's quite difficult to do a price comparison....anyone one good at maths??!!

I am using GOSH X-ceptional wear light-reflecting foundation at the moment, as it is on 3 for 2 at Superdrug.

It has a larger range of colours than Boots 17, so that rather than buying several and blending them as suggested, you may find a perfect match. If not, then buying 3 for £16 now works out cheaper than 3 of the Boots 17 Super Wear range. GOSH liquid foundations are normally £8 each, and although similar to the Boots range, I prefer them because they give slightly more coverage
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

I think the reason Lush make small quantities of Ultrabland is that it's perishable. Not insanely so; you have about a month to use up the pot and the 'use by' date is clearly marked on the tub. But that and a cheap job lot of facecloths and you're set up. (Eve Lom sell these silly muslin cloths and they go all po-faced if you say you use an un-Lom cloth to get your makeup off. Honestly - these posho cosmetic companies; you'd think they're saving lives sometimes . . . )

So is it the £5.50 (45g size) one that you mentioned that lasts a month, or the larger 100g size? Also if any Liz Earle users could tell me how long a 100ml bottle of C&P lasts ('cos I can't remember), that would be great- then the comparative value would be more clear. Thanks!

I like the idea of this one too - as soon as my Clarins cleanser runs out (it's brand new, yet now I find myself wishing it away... :p ).

I am almost 100% sure that 1 litre equates to 1kg, so it's still easily comparable. I typed 100g into here:
    http://www.cleavebooks.co.uk/scol/ccdens.htm

and it says 100g/cc (or ml) on the left results ;)

I've just made another discovery of the Soap and Glory Flake Away body scrub, which is really similar to the Clarins relax body scrub. It's a kind of oily scrub with salt in and leaves your skin gorgeously soft. It's 5.99 so not dead cheap but much cheaper than some of the designer ones.

There are some great suggestions on here- I'm actually looking forward to running out of some of my 'luxury' items so I can try the cheaper alternatives. How crazy is that?!!

I didn't see it, but on last night's How to Look Good Naked, the Aldi cream (£1.89) tied first place with Lancome (£51!!) in a poll on night creams:

I am now a convert to Aldi's range of skincare. I startd using the Lacura bodylotion/fake tan cream about a year ago and at 1.99 ish, its excellent. I saw an article 6 months ago about the concealer pen so dashed off to buy one of those and picked up a foundatin and mascara while I was at it. The concealer pen is excellent, better that Touche Eclat which I have been using for a few years. The difference in price is around £15 so there is no contest as far as I am concerned.

The foundation I have to say is not brilliant, its more of a tinted moisuriser and doesn't beat my Elizabeth Arden but I still use it for daytime use as the coverage is light.

The sensitive eyes mascara is another find, cant rember how much, but under £2 im sure. I usually use Benefit's Bad Gal mascara, again its mega expensive but not a great deal better than Aldi's product.

    Im a happy convert:rotfl:
