Sounds like you are going to have a nice lunch I like that kind of pub.
As for the shares sounds like you have learned your lesson but its so hard to know when its best to quit. I had two sets of shares in Denmark one from a brewery my Gran gave me and I have just cashed them in as they were worth over £500. My sister could not understand how I could sell them but my mum thought it was well worth it was she had sold hers when they were much lower. I also have some bank shares and the bank is vertually on its way out. They are worth £50 but it will cost £25 to sell them so I think its worth the risk.

    Hi TG

Had a lovely lunch on Sunday, a good steak and chips with onion rings and extra side order of veggies, I also had two large cups of coffee and the bill was £10 for my bit incl, the 25% so I was pleased with that.

When you say it is best it's hard to know when it's best to quit, aint that the truth :o FWIW I think you have done the right thing with your brewery shares and I see what you mean about the £50 v £25 risk!

After just posting about my Barclaycard I thought I would check out how many points I had and I had enough for a £10 voucher. This is a nice suprise as I don't use it often and the points system is rubbish since they changed it about a year ago. I've ordered a £10 M&S voucher which I can either use at some point either for myself or for a gift :j

Well after ordering this on Friday the voucher turned up in the post this morning so an excellent speedy turnaround from Barclaycard.

Since my £10 meal on Sunday I've had three consecutive NSD's so that's good and I think to-morrow and Friday will be the same too.

I've just noticed the MSE offer for a small free Clinique mascara, I must go and read it again to check it is any old mascara you can take in for exchange of a Clinique one as I certainly don't have any old Clinique ones as I'm too [STRIKE]mean[/STRIKE] money conscious to buy them.

I've now got all the Christmas money in that I was owed so that's good

I've also made a couple of payments to my Amex card, the bill is not due until the 20th so not very MSE but I want to pay as much as I can from this salary as I can IYKWIM, mind you there is not much on there.

Grr, I wished pay day would hurry up!

Right, just re-checked the Clinique offer and it certainly seems that you can just take in any old mascara to get the offer. It starts on Saturday and is only available while stocks last so I'll try and get that done first thing Saturday

  • Hi ATT. glad you read the offer as I hadn't realised it was starting on Saturday, and was heading in tomorow - that wouldn't have pleased me.

I know I have a old mascara knocking around, so I am going to try and exchange that, then put this one in DDs birthday box - yes I know another type of saving but I can't help myself. I still have a no.7 eye shadow left from Xmas which I didn't give to her, so that's the beginnings of a girly beauty box for her.

Well done on the NSDs - I failed today as I did my first Approved Foods order - goodness that was fun......

    Have a good night. Tilly

  • My Boots voucher turned up yesterday so that is another one to add to my small but growing stash

Yesterday was another NSD but I'd forgotten about an appointment I have later today so that will be approx £40

Got up nice and early today and got some housework out of the way before work so pleased with the bits and bobs I've done but there is more to do!

    Regards

Glad I could help Tilly, nothing worse than a wasted trip!

I'm intrigued about your Approved Food Order, I don't think I've heard of that, could you explain more please?

Woohoo, I thought I had done everything I could with my money this month but that has proved not to be the case. I've done a bit of re-jigging this morning and this along with the fact that this was the last month I was paying too much into the bills account meant I 'found' some more money :j

    I have used it to
    • send £161.50 to my Stooze card, this means the balance is £3450 so I'm on track to only have £3k to re-schedule at the end of March (not the point of stoozes I know)
    • sent £154 to Amex card, it's not due until this Friday so not very MSE I know but I want to use up all of this months money as much as possible if you know what I mean so that when I get my lovely 'free of all tax saga salary' next week I will know exactly where I am
This does leave £150 to be paid to Amex on Fri but that is fine

Yay, it feels great to be doing something pre 1st OP of the year, still can't wait though :D

Just back from Boots/Clinique with lovely free mascara. Nearly missed out as it had slipped my mind today so thanks to TG for reminding me about it!

I'm feeling really positive and enthusiatic at the moment for all things money, not sure how long this mood will last so hope it's not just 'new year' syndrome :o

It's ironic I feel like this having had such a roller coaster time with tax last year but maybe that's the reason why I feel so bouyant (sp?) in that it's all done now so I can crack on!

I'm determined that by the end of year I won't have any of the Stooze money left to pay back and parents should be repaid by September

    Regards all

  • Hi ATT, excellent news on the finding money front - I must get the kids looking down backs of sofas later, but don't think it will help much!

Glad to hear your optimism, I do think the tax thing being finished, must be a huge relief and how great to see here you will be by the year end. Good luck with your plans etc. it's also fab to know that so many people are with us on these journeys, it is a big boost to know that we have people to virtually talk to about our thoughts, plans etc.

Have a good weekend, Tilly x
