Goodness I'm tired today! I've got a few hours travelling for work to do this afternoon and set my alarm for 5.50 this morning and then proceeded to snooze it until 7.45 :eek::eek::eek: I was in bed for 9.15 last night and asleep by 10 but I just can't seem to get going

Although I lurrrrrve my sleep I've always been good at getting up in the mornings and I'm usually up between 5 and 6 on work days. Its a good job that i'm home this morning so could afford to get up at 7.45 with no harm done. I'm away for the next few days with work so shouldn't spend too much and I don't expect it to be more than £20, that's what I'm aiming for anyway :D

Must remember to get my free coffee from Costa today as I forgot last week :o

• Hi ATT, sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead of you - are you good at taking time out for yourself? I saw you had lunch with a friend, so hopefully you are. I have booked a back massage at the local college for an afternoon this week - much cheaper, means I could afford one every week, and they get to practice on me, so sounds like a good old win win

Hope all goes well with work this week and on the share front, I understand it's a bugg@r that you could have achieved more, but at least they have gone and you can dabble elsewhere. The bonus shares can sit around for a while no doubt, growing handsomely........

Best wishes, Tilly x

Well I've finally just had the time to check my annual mortage startement against my beloved spreadsheet; turns out I was £60 out  but in my favour :D I can see now how it has happened as I had worked the normal monthly payment out based on interest rate and balance but of course they are fixed payment, doh!

So, I'm £60 closer and I've also just made another OP of £90.89 to take the interest only part to a round balance of £71,300. I'd like to sneak another OP in this month of around £87 as this will mean an overall capital reduction of £1000 which is what I like to aim for.

Re tax loan from parents; I borrowed a total of £4948, have repaid £2448 since September so still owe £2500 which I'm continuing to pay back at a minimum of £300 per month so it should all be paid back by September this year if not before. Of course that will mean an extra £300 OP's a month which of course begs the question of why I wasn't doing it pre tax saga :o

I'm having a day of admin tasks and got a few out the way already but lots of others to attack

Regards
ATT

Well I had planned to do a few updates on here then have a good old catch-up on other people's threads but i'm so tired i'm thinking of having an afternoon nap ;) I've been away 4 days this week with work and besides getting up between 4.30 and 5.30 every morning i've had the week from h*ll, honestly, if it could go wrong it has...

So, just a couple of quick things for now
• Eventually got round to sigining up to BT's pay a years line rental in advance at £120 and save £55.20 so that is all done
• I've spent £20.29 all week which is great, it would have been £10.29 but I got a taxi during the week and although it was connected to work purposes it doesn't meet the claims criteria so I can't claim, I must admit i do this on occassion and although it's a bit of a pain I don't mind too much as it's me it is helping
Other tasks needed this weekend
• Look into the Marriott credit card and the one FB was talking about
• Ring Barclaycard as my replacement CC not turned up and just realised mine expired last month
• Have a mooch on-line for potential few days city break in the summer, I'm half thinking of Paris, Florence or Nice, has anyone been to those and would you recommend them?

Hi ATT
I went to Paris as a student for Fashion Week and loved it! It was years ago but I would definitely go again. Florence is LOVELY I used to go a couple of times a year and always loved it. It's so pretty and there's plenty to see there, so that would probably be my choice.
Never been to Nice but I'm sure it is ;)

Nice to see you back well done on getting rid of the shares it's always tricky but at least you got a small profit.

Your job really does sound like mine I'm away 3 nights next week although it's to lovely Cornwall and Devon so not too bad.

As for a weekend break I just love Barcelona but we also like Gilbralta both small enough to do justice to in a weekend.

Hi Macgirl, thanks for that, I'll have a closer look at Florence and must be good if you've been back many times. I've never been to Paris and if i'm honest it's really Versailles (sp?) that I want to see, i keep looking at deals and then going no further as it will prove to be quite expensive as i fancy going on the Eurostar rather than flying so I would need a fairly costly train to London, (+ probably an overnight stay there the night before the Eurostar) then i'd like to do first class on the Eurostar.

I'll have to have a good old research as i'd like to go to Bruges as well so maybe what I should look at is the flight for a Paris trip and the Eurostar for the Bruges on as their seems to be more deals

I can see that the trainline in partnership with AA travel have some good 'buy 1 get one free' to Paris, Bruges and other places but tbh the website is a nightmare to navigate as the have lumped all the hotels for many cities in screen and not denoted which is which so you literally have to go into each one to see where it is.

If anyone is interested in the deal it must be booked by 31st January for travel between now and March

Regards

Thanks TG and yes, a profit is a profit, i'm a bit dissapointed they haven't dropped back down again as I'm poised on the buy button

Although I get to just about everywhere in the country I never get to Cornwall and Devon though i have heard they are beautiful. I have some distant relations in Cornwall but I've never been there and not seen them for many years now

I absolutely love Barcelona and have been twice now, i'd definately go back but then always struggle with there are so many other beautiful places in the world to visit

At the moment not expecting to be away this week :D

• Hi ATT, enjoy your non travelling week. I used to travel every week and I know in occasions it can be wearing, particularly if you have to run for flights.

I laughed about the credit card, I had a similar instance recently and I felt a right muppet when I rang the company up!

Have a great week, you have done brilliantly on your spends last week - hope this one is as good.

Best wishes, Tilly x
