  • Ok, so far I have got four mobiles off in the post. Three of them will bring in £14.50 and the other is broken so has gone off to be re-cycled.

On top of that I've cleared off another four, one of which I'm giving to my mother as it's a fantastic phone (I think my all time favourite). It would only fetch £6 now so I'm giving it to mum as it's far better than the one she has.

Two others are old work ones which I'll hand back in for spares and the fourth one has no value but is working find so I'll send that for re-cycling

I've got one more to clear off and must get that done as it's worth the most of them all - £50!

  • I've repaid the parents another £300 today so that makes £748 in five weeks which I think is some going. It leaves me with £3200 left to pay and I've set up a monthly standing order for £300. Part of the reason that I've been able to pay them so much this months is the happy news of owing the tax man less so I've used some of the £1083 I'd set aside this month for that!

Hopefully I'll be able to pay a bit more on top of the £300 each month too

  • I think my spare money this month is burning a hole in my pocket :o

I've just made an OP of £119.58 which will go towards the October payment. I'll top this up with the usual £500 OP when I get paid next month. These two OP's along with the normal monthly payment will mean total payment to the mortgage (so for both repayment and IO part) will be £1000 and I'd like this to be the minimum standard for future months!

I've also made a small OP to my credit card of £60.48 to leave a round balance of £4100.00. This is on 0% until March 12.

  • An update on the electrics position aka cable chaos!
    • another mobile one off in the post today, nil value but works perfect so can be re-cycled to someone else
    • 3 nokia chargers outsorted as not needed - need to try and find somewhere to re-cycle them which is hard to do
    • 2 chargers kept for work phone, one for home and one for work
    • 2 phones + chargers packed to be sent to work for spares
    • 5 bluetooth earpiecs located (I know, I know!)
      • 2 charged, tested and paired with work phone, work great (I know one is brand new just don't know which one!)
      • 2 on charge as we speak, need to be tested
      • 1 not working (came free with a phone years ago and I know I've never used it as I didn't like it)
    • Matched various wires and gadgets matched up that come with a PDA, the foldable mini keyboard, tomtom kit, and car accessories. I've got all the boxes and every bit of info and plastic tag that they came with!
      • need to work out what to do with this as would like to sell it. Total cost £1100 in 2004 and used about 6 times!
Still to do, quite a few things but getting there...

Well I've now received payment for the three phones totalling £15.50. Although I used the same company for all three and requested direct payment into my account they have for some reason paid £3.50 into my account and sent me two cheques for £6 each for the others so I need to pay them in.

My tax man paying in slip has arrived too:j I'm pathetically excited about this and the coming pay day as it means that I will finally be able to pay them off in full for the tax year 10/11. I've also received a new tax code for the latest amendments and when I've made the lump sum payment to them at the end of this month I will get another tax code which should mean that my November pay will finally be right after a full year of different salaries.

I've also renewed my tax disc today with the on-line service which I think is great. I see they've introduced a £2.50 charge if you pay by credit card so of course I paid by debit card.

My car insurance expires 4th December, I had thought it was November so that's good as it means a pay day between tax and insurance. I'll try and start and look for quotes tonight. I'll also have to arrange the MOT as well

The last 'one off' of the year will be to renew my landlords insurance. I've had the renewal quote in of £121.46 and this is due 7th November but there is plenty in the BTL savings account to cover this

Just done a couple of quick calcualtions and thing that I will still be about £300 in credit when I get paid which is perfect as that is about the shortfall needed for the tax man. I won't know the precise amount until I call them later in the month. I had thought I would need a bit of this months pay to make up the shortfall but looks like I will just squeak it through.

I'm also conscious that Christmas is not to far away. I do have a few presents in already and I really don't have many people to buy for

    Hi all

Just been updating my signature :j

I've made an OP of £684.76, this along with my normal monthly payments means an overall capital reduction of £1000 which is what I'm aiming to do as a minimum each month.

In other news, I had hoped to be sending the cheque to the tax man yesterday but my pay slip is confusing me a bit in that the tax 'refund' I was expecting is not on it but my pay was more than it was last month. I did ring the tax office earlier to clarify but unfortunately I was too late as they closed at 4pm so it will have to wait until Monday night now.

I've also made a payment of £100 to the MBNA card (still at 0%) which makes the outstanding balance a straight £4000 so still lots of work to do on that one and the 0% ends next March

    Hi all

Hadn't really intended to do a post but I was just having a quick lunch time browse and had something to update so here I am!

I've made another payment of £100 to the credit card today so that takes it down to £3900 minus whatever the normal DD will be this month. I'd love to get it down to £3k for when the 0% expires in March, I think that's a bit of a stretch but I'm going to aim for it anyway.

I've also applied for a Halifax rewards account. If I'm honest the only things I'm going to do with it is cycle £1000 in and out of it in order to benefit from the £5 per month rewards :o

Other things to do this month
    • renew Landlords insurance for BTL
    • renew car insurance (tried to do it at weekend but as it was just over a month away I couldn't get a proper quote)
    • review the Christmas presents I've already bought at random :o and check it off against who I have to buy for
