My tenant is apparently with me until May and there is chance he may come back within a couple of months. TBH he's been such a good tenant (and popular with neighbours too) that if he did want to come back I would be prepared to keep it empty for him for a couple of months. I don't want to count my chickens though so It's wait and see on that front

Very good news on this front! My tenant is not leaving in May and in fact is staying on longer. I don't know how long for but I'm guessing about 6 months. This will really put my BTL account back in a good place as i can fully repay myself next month then build the savings fund attached to that account back up as it has been none existant for nearly a year now after I did the last cleaning/sprucing up/landlords insurance etc etc

I've just made an on-line gift purchase at Argos and happily it's on the Amex list so thats a second store down on the 8 required. I did it via Topcashback and got a 50p casback - small but perfectly formed and every little helps :rotfl:

I've also just noticed that I've had £34 move from pending to confirmed so I'm just about to request that to be sent :T

    Hi all

I'm having quite a good week spending wise and have only spent about £10 so quite pleased with that as I've had the quarterly gas bill to pay this month £125 ish.

Other news on the money front is that my Amex cashback is up to £176 and I received an offer from them last week whereby if I spend in at least 8 pre-defined shops then I get a £25 credit to my credit card. There is no minimum spend and I naturally use three of four of them anyway so that is my task for June as I've only got a month to do it in.

Just checked my Amex statement to see if a few transactions have been debited, they have and my cashback balance is now just over £184. I've also done a wee bit of shopping that I needed and two of the shops were on the Amex list to get the £25 which was good. I also had a McD's cheeseburger 4 lunch, I wouldn't normally dream of doing that but I had two good reasons, a discount voucher plus they are also on Amex list! All in all that means iv now made 4 out of the 8 required Amex purchases to get the £25 credit so only 4 more needed in June and I think I can do that :j

Just to report that yesterday I made the final eighth required purchase so that should be all thats needed for the £25 credit to my statement, although from reading the small print this could take a couple of months to happen. I'm really pleased I've done the eight now and with the exception of one of them it was just using shops that I normally would anyway.

    Hi abouttimetoo,

Which Amex card do you have out of curiosity? I have the Amex Nectar Card but I quite like the idea of getting cashback rather than Nectar points - do you have a name or a link where I can read more about how it works ?

    Many thanks

Hi Linz, thanks for stopping by, apologies for the delay in replying but I don't manage to get on here regularly. The Amex card I have is the Platinum one, at the time there was a special cashback offer on for the first three months (5% off the top of my head, capped at £100 with a minimum spend but I can't remember the figure off the top of my head) After the three months the cashback dropped back and has a scale linked to spend.

I think they have a similiar offer on at the moment although I don't know if it's only for brand new customers. Link to their different cards as follows

    http://www.americanexpress.com/uk/all-cards/?PID=832&BUID=CCG&PSKU=DFLT&AFFID=GoogleGL&CRTV=2534&sourcecode=

Also, don't forget to check such sites as Topcashback and quidco if you're moving cards around as they are often good deals on as per the below which TCB is showing as at today. Please note the Br Airways ones are also Amex ones and I'm actually looking to potentially swap to one of those ones myself at the moment as if i'm reading it right there are some fab deals on and I'm trying to work out how to get an upgrade to Business Class AND a matching free ticket to America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing to note is with the Amex platinum is that the cash back is paid to you yearly and if you opt to take it in cash they just credit your card with the amount. You can also get a limited range of vouchers with a 5% bonus

Hi Vixstar, good prompt, thanks, I forgot to mention that as the way the cashback is repaid could make a difference for people

    Hi all

I've just made this month OP of £582.28, (yes I know it's on odd a amount but that was what was needed to make the o/s balance a nice round number IUSWIM ;))

As previoulsy mentioned I've made my 8 required purcashes on Amex and I got an email from them earlier in the week confirming I'd done it. I've just checked my Amex account and was amazed to see the £25 has already been credited. I've got to say that I really do find the customer service from Amex spot on!

Hope you are all doing well with your plans
    Regards

    Hi all

Things in general ticking over nicely apart from the HMRC thing still hanging over my head but i think I'll do a separate post on that
