Just re-read this and realised it kind of looks like I intentionally sent the extra £100 so beat my target, this is not the case! I sent the extra money by accident as my maths skills clearly deserted me that day. To compound matters I then sent £500 for this months OP instead of £400 to make up for the extra £100 - doh!MFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18

The aim last month was to make a total payment to the mortgage of £1000 (so including normal and overpayment) As I've said I made a bit of a !!!! up so ended up making it £1100, oh well, at least it hasn't made me overdrawn.
I can't wait to get paid next week so I can knuckle down and get cracking. I've become far too blase in certain areas and have just been making the normal OP's etc. However, the onset of the tax bills and the CC lurking around has given me the appropriate kick up the bum!
Tasks for the weekend include getting back to Mr S to get the £4 refund and also return a hairdryer for £14, it was a panic buy purchase as mine was about to blow up but the next day I found one that was just rightMFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18

Yay, pay day! I got paid £100 more than last month due to them beginning to sort my tax code out. On that note I got a HMRC envelope this morning and was hoping it was the paying in slip so that I could clear the 10/11 tax amount of £1085. However, when I opened it it contained the seventy millionth upmty umpty tax code of the year and furthermore said that I owe £1338.82 from the previous tax year  Grr, that is not the £1085 advised to me last month.

In the last week I have had 5 no spend days which while good is only part of the story as in the other two days I spent
- £10 leaving gift contributions for work
- £22 petrol
- £60 cigarettes
- £25 supermarket
- £35 massage
- a further £250 to parents so now owe £3500
- a further £150 to credit card leaving a balance of 4205.03
- American express full balance paid od £407.62 (this was partly work expenses and all claims are up to date (though I claim them weekly religiously)
- £40 for girly treatments
- £120 Goldfish (due in anout three weeks and is my personal spending and used in places that don't accept Amex)
- Amex balance for this month currently stands at £507.62 but is not due until next pay day
I think my car is due to be taxed, insured and MOT'd in the next couple of months so I will need to check the dates. Although I transfer a set amount into the bills account every month these are the three one-off items that I don't include and I just pay them when they come in as I prefer to get interest on this money which is better than that provided by the bills accountMFW Start Date 1.4.08. When I first started my diary I set my MF date to be 1/8/18 and worked out repayments to meet that date. However, at times I have not stuck to planned OP amounts. So.... I've just done a quick and dirty calculation and it's just based on the interest rate I am paying at the moment which of course is likely to increase as the years go by.. So,
- Current balance is £153,844
- 82 months/payments left between now and 1/8/18
- this means monthly payment of £1876.15 required to meet that target

Don't know if any of you will be going to the London Restaurant Festival (too far for me to go) but I've received an American Express flyer saying that card members will receive triple cashback at the paticipating restaurants.

Ok, so after another lengthy phone call with the tax man today I think I've got to the bottom of the above but apologies in advance if it is as clear as mud, I'll try to keep it brief- towards the start of the year advised I owed £1858 for a previous tax year and HMRC subsequently starting taking £155 per month from me beginning in April this year to run for 12 months
- so far have now repaid them £930 (155*6)
- this week got another advice saying owed £1339 and just could not work out how 1858-930=1339
- spoke to them today and they have now said the 1858 was an estimate and that they now done done the calculations correctly and the 1858 should be 1254, as you might have spotted 1254 is not 1339 but it appears they have made an error with that too   and that I should have been making monthly repayments of £105
- good news thinks I 1254-930 already repaid = £324 left to pay, but no, how foolish of me...
- next month they will repay me £300 in respect of overapying £50 per month for 6 months and then I need to send them this plus the £324
- now awaiting promised paying in slip and apparently no other way of doing this
What I really don't understand and can't forgive is how this has been going on for nearly 8 months and they have had the paperwork for ever and they still can't get it right
I just can't wait to get final bit paid off and receive my proper salary!MFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18

other things accomplished today
- two old mobile phones cleared off and details entered into Sainsburys cashback site, just got to wait for freepost envelope and hopefully that will be £12 on it's way to me
- one old mobile 95% cleared off, just need to transfer a couple of old photos from it onto the laptop and then that can go to and should fetch £7
- one old mobile phone about 90% cleared off, just got to delete some old texts (which I would like to keep but can't find a way) and then that should be good to go too and should fetch £50
I've got quite a pile of electrical gadgets at home, eg pda's, at least 5 blue tooth earpieces and 60 squillion chargers, I'm determined to make a dent in the pile this week!MFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18
