unfortunately i was working over the bank holiday - so didnt get a chance to get out in the caravan! What about anybody else! Any good experiences/bad experiences. Has anyone stayed in the caravan site Glenmore Caravan and Camping Park, thinking of going there for a weekend sometime soon.

    hi eeyorerules

Come out of the sixmile caravan park and at the junction just by the Antrim Forum turn left, go through the traffic lights keeping in the left lane. A couple of hundred yards on there is a roundabout, again stay left and head towards Randalstown, Shanes castle is a couple of miles down this road on the left. Its signposted so you should find it easily enough.

    Hope this helps.

Rosses Point in Sligo is a lovely site also for tourers and tents...been there a few times. Don't have the caravan now - just a tent and called into Castle Archdale a few weeks ago.....they wanted £20 per night for 3 man tent and £15 for 2man  - went to look at the tent pitches and they had a big digger doing construction work just in front of the tent pitches.......... Not a pretty site so changed our minds and cleared off to Murvagh Beach for the night instead.
  • Over the Bank Holiday we enjoyed a sweltering time on the beach at Benone. Golden Sands Holiday Park was great, very level site and although it was very busy we didn't notice it being noisy at night, as on some sites. The weather really made it that weekend but it's only 10 miles approx from Coleraine so if there was bad weather there's always the leisure centre and shopping. Driving on to the beach without having to pay (as on Portstewart Strand) was a bonus too.

We are also big fans of Benone and have stayed at Golden Sands many times but I have to say, in terms of toilet block cleanliness, the tourist complex at Benone is far superior. We spent the May bank holiday there on a supersite which gave us water and waste hook up with electric and awning space for just over £16. Family rooms are great for showering the younger family members and the showers are free. Heading for Red Bay next time.
