thanks everyone for the info. have read this thread through (twice!) and learned a lot.
now have 2 sipgate numbers (voice/ voicemail) but will continue to use the free minutes on my 3 contract for outgoing calls, until something free comes along. will pop out and get a headset tomorrow.0 -

Sipdiscount gives free calls to landlines. Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -
Does anyone know when you buy credit with Sipdiscount can you make free call to the complete list of countries that you can make one minute calls to?
Thanks in Advance0 -
No, but if you still wish to make the 1 min calls you could use the test account, or sign up another account. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

is there somewhere on the SD site where it gives you the list? Other than their comprehensive price list?0

SIPdiscount.com flashed up with Voipcheap and I payed 5 euros to have unlimited calls to Australia etc. But realised afterwards that they are not the same at all. What do I have to do to use the SIP account? There is no way of dialing. I've jumped in without sussing it out. Can anyone advise me?0

Hello,
I read with interest many pages on this thread and have some questions:
- how do you get a free voip-in local number (i.e. 02xxxxx) from sipgate? I tried starting from sipgate.co.uk and I am on a UK connection (geolocator locates my IP as London). I read someone used a proxy. Can you suggest a good one without wasting too much time?
At present I have on the list on the left side of the sipgate pages:
Please select your future telephone number from our pre-selection list:
Germany, lokal - 01801 (zum Ortstarif)
United Kingdom, local - 0845
United Kingdom, national - 0870
I cannot find the local prefix even if it is mentioned in the internal pages!
- Does anyone know where to download X-lite these days? the link in the original message on the first page is not working anymore (a new company name comes up and no free version).0 -
Usually it is people on AOL that have the problem you are seeing or those outside the UK.
Try: http://www.samair.ru/proxy/proxy-12.htm for a proxy.
Once you get a UK IP range, you should find Sipgate then lists the London 020 number you are after.
